Guest guest
Guys, I don't want to sound like a wet blanket, but could we please cut down on the tail ends of reponding to emails as it is filling up my/our mail box (pretty quickly as in this list alone was 260K) and it takes ages to scroll through 16-25 emails on the list if people keep replying and not cutting off the excess information that is on their response it will take too long to read through the emails and forever scrolling causes people to give up and unlist themselves because of this. I understand that if you respond to an email that you want to have some information in the main part of the email so people know what is going on, but not 10 cms (4 inches) of continuous repeats). I am surprised that Ian (or one of the moderators) has not said anything as he/she has said in the past about this. Plus it fills up the archive base more quickly giving the moderators more work for editing unwanted information that has already served its purpose in the first instance. Am I wrong to complain? Guest guest
I understand Wendy... there is so much duplicate stuff in the message archives that it's no wonder you all can't search far.. I cleaned out alot but it really needs deeper cleaning. Guest guest
The following message when it arrived in my inbox was over 77k in size and contained 5 previous messages attached to a one line reply. 77k is pretty hefty, particularly if you're on dial up, or if you have up and download limits. Not to mention that not trimming messages makes the digest versions extremely frustrating to read through because you have to read the same messages over and over and over and over again and again and again and again. Digest is supposed to be the option for those who don't want to fill their inboxes with mail, but if it's full of repeat messages it wouldn't be worth the trouble. I wish people would learn to trim messages Tessa - <zeb <herbal remedies > Thursday, May 06, 2004 7:29 AM Re: Herbal Remedies - dog food labels Wow. They'll eat even more when fully grown. Ouch!. Guest guest
Tessa, I think its a great idea. There are also several new people who join each day not to mention the 30-40 a week that are just passing through. But I'd like to say this first. Let someone know that this is the right way to use a forum/group. Prior to this post I did not fully understand that it creates a problem, and so, paid very little attention to it. But people only learn when others let them know how to properly post. So if you wish us people to learn, simply ask, tell or post about it.
