Guest guest
Flax seed oil is perhaps not the best source of omega 3's as it is not as bioavailable as fish oils. I supplement myself and my dogs with fish oils. The dose for dogs is 500mg for every 20lbs of body weight daily. http://www.mercola.com/2003/jan/1/fish_oil.htm http://www.mercola.com/2002/apr/3/evolution.htm Anne VA USA
Guest guest
The only caution with fish oils, is that they contain high levels of vitamin A, and one can overdose on this vitamin. So if you also take vitamin A in another supplement, you need to watch that you don't take too much by also adding the fish oils. That's why we're taking the flaxseed oil. love Lisa - Anne Bird Herbal Thursday, May 06, 2004 7:40 AM Herbal Remedies - Flax seed oil Flax seed oil is perhaps not the best source of omega 3's as it is not as bioavailable as fish oils. Guest guest
Fish oils only contain high levels of vitamin A if it is a fish liver oil supplement such as cod liver/halibut liver oil capsules/supplements. More of a concern is where the fish is sourced and whether it has high levels of toxic metals e.g. mercury is more of a concern. The only caution with fish oils, is that they contain high levels of vitamin A, and one can overdose on this vitamin.
