Guest guest
I agree who cares is the best attitude for parents to take BUT I remember the negative part for him was he wouldn't go for sleep overs with his friends...and sometimes he would go and then around 9:00 or later he would be on the phone to pick him up! I know it was hard on him but we never let on we knew why he wouldn't stay. Guest guest
Good point. I've seen this as well. Again make it totally unimportant. If the subject has no importance attached to it then no matter what happens it won't be upsetting unless he is upset. If he gets upset enough he'll do something about it. You can ask if he wants help with the problem but you just made it an issue. Instead be very frank and forthright about it. I like the idea of not bringing it up that he peed and that's why he's calling to be picked up. That's cool. But I would tell him that he has to get over this problem before he can sleep over. Only because picking him up is beginning to be a problem. Again importance is put on picking him up. He has a choice. He either stops peeing or he stops sleeping over. This is his life and I have always let my kids live their life, even the unpleasant parts. Believe me when I say the experience won't hurt him. You can lead a horse to water.... thing applies here. You can even do what Doc suggested or my watered down version which is telling him it's OK with you if he pees. Just let you know about it so you can help get it all cleaned up. My reason was always that it made the house stink and I didn't like it, nor did guests. Hope this answers your question.
