It does take a lot out of you to have a baby.. You know you could start while breast feeding by drinking like an 8 ounce glass of fresh organic juice every day. This will not bring on a major detox but will help nurish you and the little one. Once your done breast feeding we will help you get on the right track! Good for you for asking such good questions and planning a cleanse! God Bless, Jamie in Az
Guest guest
This is NOT an area which is black or white. Much of this is determined by the physical condition of the MOM and how toxic she is before she starts doing a cleanse. For a woman who was healthy and eating properly before the baby was born, I'd say there'd be no problems as there should be no serious toxins that could be transferred to the baby by breast feeding. But make no mistake about this. Toxins, poisons, drugs, herbal remedies, and other biochemicals, can be and are transferred not only through the placenta (pre-birth), but can also be transferred through the breast milk as well. Talk to any woman who's eaten garlic and then ask her about the expression on her baby's face after he's latched on. A baby will literally do a double take, as he's very aware the taste has changed. Yes, it is true that the mammary glands and the placenta filter out a lot of garbage that may be floating around in the Mom, but NOT ALL!!! This is especially true for LSD, Crak, Angel Dust, DMSO, and many others. It is a well known fact (even the Medicos are well aware of this one), that Druggie Moms have Druggie Babies. This goes for toxicity as well. A woman who has a heavy drug history (street or medical) and / or who is highly toxic, should never breast feed her new born if she wants to have a healthy baby. She should put her baby on the Barley Formula that was mentioned a few months ago, while she herself is doing a full and complete Total Body Cleanse Detox. A woman who is pregnant and has a heavy drug history (street or medical) SHOULD do a Total Body Cleanse as this will help to detoxify the baby at the same time she herself is detoxing. This will also make for an easier birth and a healthier Mom and Baby. The point here that I'd like to emphasize with a pregnant MOM doing the Total Body Cleanse, is that this cleanse should be done very gently and spread out over 6 to 12 weeks instead of 4 weeks. A three day cleanse or "fast" would be interspersed over a 12 day period rather than 3 days straight in a row. You would not want to run out of Echinacea or Total Tonic either, or the chances of turning on a Healing Crisis would be heightened dramatically, and this "sickness" could bring about extra stress to both Mom and child, possibly turning on a miscarriage. I would never recommend to anyone to do any kind of cleansing without Echinacea and Total Tonic to hand. None of this is carved in stone. As I state in my first paragraph, the determining factor here is the overall health of the Mom. Hope this clarifies and helps. Is this not a concern?? Guest guest
Thank you Doc, for clarifying. I'm a relatively healthy 44 yr old~ no pharmaceuticals in my system except Advil or similar a couple of months ago, but I'm ashamed to say that my diet isn't the best (although I only drink water and I'm slowly improving). I've had 9 children in the past 21 years, and breastfed the last 6. I take various vitamins, minerals, herbs, and virgin coconut oil daily. I have never done a colon cleanse before. About 7 yrs ago I decided that I needed to do one, but found out I was pregnant so I didn't do it. I've been going on the assumption that it wasn't good to detox/cleanse while pregnant or breastfeeding. I've had 3 babies in the last 6.5 yrs and am still nursing my last one (she's 22 mos old now). I was kind of hoping that doing the 3 day juice cleanse would be ok, but I'm going to wait until she weans. I'm just getting antsy ;-) lol Thanks again~ Jan SAHM of 8, doula, breastfeeding advocate
Guest guest
Total up to you Jan, though if your diet is as good as you say, you could try it as long as you take the Echinacea and TT when you do this. I'd do a one day cleanse first to see how that went, and then work up to a three day cleanse. And I'd emphatically have you on Total Nutrition regardless of whether or not you do the cleanse. The TN by itself could dramatically increase the quality of your milk.
