Guest guest
Hi, I hope someone can give me some help. My brother-in-law (25) is in the hospital. After 3 days he has been released from intensive care finally. His white blood cell count is in the 60,000! I guess it should be about 1200. This is causing a breakdown of his muscles and therefore a protein release. The doctors (DOs) are concerned that it will cause his kidneys to shutdown! Has anyone ever heard of anything like this? The doctors have run all the tests and have no idea why this is happening. He also has a lot of pain in his shoulder and back. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! It could be an autoimmune disease, bone marrow disorder, bad bacterial infection, other infection... It could also be a spleen rupture or disorder which can radiate pain to the left shoulder and back area, is his pain of the left side?...this also affects the immune system which may be the high WBC count.. just a few ideas. Spleen disorders can be caused by a viral infection..a ruptur is usually trauma to the sleen. Anyway if you have Doc's tape have him listen to it and then see if he is open to a cleanse, this can get things quickly under control...I would also think immediate fresh organic juices right away with no solid foods until his condition improves. Let me know more on if he is willing to try alternatives or not... Also find out what he eats and drinks and if he is taking any meds, herbs, etc. Best of luck & God Bless, Jamie in Az

As far as his willingness to try herbal remedies. I am not goingto be able to talk him into a cleanse I don't think but possibly some tea orsomething else that is less of a lifestyle change. He flat will not eatfruits & veggies no matter how much I lecture! Any ideas? Thanks again!Angela Hi Again Angela... Sounds like he is not yet ready to help himself... Maybe you could get him to listen to Doc's tape.??? Hope so he needs some direction with his health but you just can't force it on him if he is not interested at all.. I wish you the best in this area. Zeb was right on with the juice fast...maybe he would do that? Below is some info for you so you can understand WBC count a little better. God Bless, Jamie in Az In response to an acute infection, trauma, or inflammation, white blood cells release a substance called colony-stimulating factor (CSF). CSF stimulates the bone marrow to increase white blood cell production. In a person with normally functioning bone marrow, the numbers of white blood cells can double within hours if needed. An increase in the number of circulating leukocytes is rarely due to an increase in all five types of leukocytes. When this occurs, it is most often due to dehydration and hemoconcentration. In some diseases, such as measles, pertussis and sepsis, the increase in white blood cells is so dramatic that the picture resembles leukemia. Leukemoid reaction, leukocytosis of a temporary nature, must be differentiated from leukemia, where the leukocytosis is both permanent and progressive. A WBC over 30,000 indicates massive infection or a serious disease.
Guest guest
Hi & thanks for the help! He does not take very good care of himself. Actually I was sure at the time he called that he had gotten a hold of some bad drugs. But since I have spoken with the dr and he ran toxicology tests and found only marijuana (still bad but much less than I would have expected). Two days before he got sick he road from Nevada to Kansas on his motorcycle (dr doesn't think this has anything to do with it though I disagree). He was very dehydrated and his entire left side is what is hurting. They have done CAT scans & MRIs without finding anything. My question would be can being severely dehydrated cause the high white blood cell count? It is my understanding that the high white blood cell count caused the high protein count and break down of muscle tissue.
