ALMOND MILK

1 cup almonds

4 cups distiled water

honeyand vanilla to taste ( Optional )

Soak almonds overnight in glas container big enough to allow for the doubling in size of the almonds . In the morning blend all like crazy . Strain the almond bits( meal) out through cheesecloth strainer etc. You can mix the leftover meal with granola and honey , press in a pan , chill and eat . Yummy

Good luck Caroline...Mary O

Herbal Remedies - Almond Milk

Is there a recipe for making your own almond milk in the files? I could not find one if there is and if not, could someone please give me some help.

I want to get my son off of milk and would like to try him on almond milk...maybe starting with mixing it half and half to getting it down to all almond milk. I think he would like it and will make him try it first, but if he is unsure then this is what

Thank you Mary...so if the milk doesn't go over...the mixing with leftover granola and honey and chilling wins with me! Sounds like that will be MY favorite part!! Does this make them into something I can then slice like a bar? or is it mushy? My son said that sounds delicious as well!

Thanks again!

Just need to clarify something---do I soak the almonds in the 4 cups

of distilled water and blend them using the same water? Or do I use

different water, drain, and then blend with fresh water? And can I

use bottled spring water instead? I plan to omit the honey and

vanilla and use it as a base for a curry sauce instead of the soy

milk I used to use.

Thanks

I soak and then add new Water.

Also, have you tried coconut milk in your curry? I just puree fresh

coconut and the milk to get a nice creamy texture as well as a more

traditional curry flavor! Yumm now i am hungry!

What exactly is granola? It definitely isn't considered a raw food?

How many of you all eat strictly raw food? Does anyone cook their food?

Elizabeth...Granola is a cereal made with oats , dries fruit , nuts etc . The Almond Milk recipe I gave you is Valorie's recipe . It is possible to make granola that is raw . There is a recipe for it in a book called " DRY IT " by Gen Macmaniman.

I am eating nearly all raw at the moment.Have to wait for someone else to give you data on coconut...Mary O

I do some raw days and some cooked food days.

I also eat meat, but not every day.

I try to minimize the amount of meat i consume now and so most of my

days start with fresh jucie smoothies and then something lite at

lunch. I try to get raw meals in, as many times per week as possible

and definitely notice a huge difference in energy not only on that

day but usually into the next afternoon.

When i do cook food, i try to minimize the amount i cook it, like i

never BOIL veggies but opt for light stir fry/sautee or steam. Meats

(including fish) we grill and only pan fry as a very last resort

(when it's too windy to grill).

I cook my food. I only eat raw when I'm doing a cleanse or eating a salad or some fruits. Eating raw is an excellent way to lose weight and give your body a chance to recover from something. Raw juice is even better and faster.

Exactly what I do. I sometimes eat Oven Roasted Chicken and sometimes casseroles but always with 100% organic food and oils, we don;t cook with butter, and I haven't had red meat in a while. Mainly fish (I'm in Florida) and sometimes chicken.

All our flour is sprouted flour dried and ground but we buy it at the health food stores. All our vegetables we stir fry very lightly. Never let 'em go limp.
