Yes, we can overdose on herbs, like everything else. I believe we can take more than 20 yrs. old though, because of the added stress and pollution in our lives today. And it also depends on what the herb is.Marlene

I don't think that the reactions we may get is an actual over-dose. Sometimes we have a reaction do to say... a healing crisis.

Herbs are basically very safe, much safer than any prescription medications that are available!

As I said usually vomiting will happen if you have taken to much and that is not always a bad thing either if we are sick and full of mucus and garbage.

We don't have to agree on this, it is okay to have different opinions.

The only time a real problem may arise in my opinion is if you are mixing herbs with prescriptions at the same time but then you are dealing with chemical as well.

Would you take alot of ephedra? Ephedra has killed people.

Ephedra was NEVER meant to be used the way it was used for diet pills. Anything could be abused to the point of death...even water. Herbs are safe..much safer than pharmacuticals. Look how many death per year from medications!

I stand by herbs, they are safe. If you give a monkey a loaded gun chances are he will shoot you.. in the hands of a reasonable person herbs will not hurt.

I have to agree with Jamie. See the key is not really if the herbs

are safe, it's whether or not the person taking them knows what they

are doing or if they are capable of following instruction.

Your statement is completely ridiculous and i am not looking to upset

you be gee....

If you have a script for sleeping pills are you going to take alot or

the entire script all at once???

If you have script for Antibiotics are you going to take all the

doses at once, and wipe out your liver?

Come on now, this is really about people using their heads and common

sense. The cases that have been focused on in the news with regards

to herbals killing people have been backed by the Pharmies and the

FDA who are making money from prescription meds. I'm confused as to

why someone who is a member of this group is so willing to believe

that pharmacueticals are safer than herbs?

Not that many and what is generally known as they were taking it in such quantities trying to lose weight and were also on OTHER medications. Mixing medications is never a predictable result. Mixing a strong herb like ephedra with other drugs was lethal for a very small percentage, not even 1% of the people who were taking them.

It just sounds real bad. But the FDA would report that I overdosed on lettuce if I ate enough so that I choked to death. They would start banning lettuce because it "killed" people. The truth is only the herbs that work wonders by themselves and are becoming known because of their results are the ones being banned.

Totally True Example: The FDA tried to ban GARLIC. What the heck! What'll protect us from those vampires if we let them take our garlic away?

I want to make sure that this is noted:

The people killed by ephedra were also on other pharmaceuticals.

Interestingly, the cases sited show a deliberate abuse of it, rather than a responsible use. And more have died from Tylonol and Aspirin, and MD's ministrations, even in just one year, than have from ephedra in-toto.

Greetings,

I hope I didn't get anyone too upset by my statement. My objective

was to make it clear that anyone who abuses herbs, they become toxic

to the body. I was hoping that any new people coming into this group

would not think it was alright to think that if alittle is good,

maybe alot is better.

I am studying to become a Professional Member of the American

Herbalists Guild and know that there are toxic levels of herbs.

Knowledge is the key factor. I also despise prescription drugs that

put a bandaid on symptoms.

Thank you for your replies. Have a good day,

Marlene
