She's going to be going to a ped. neurologist in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, I'm wondering if anything could help in the way of herbal or vitamin supplements? I've heard GLA's are good for brain function, but I don't really have a clue about whether they'd help her, or how I could give them to her. Maybe something else could help as well? Thanks very much. Have you listened to Doc's Tape? How old is she? We had a discussion briefly about DMSO and Down's Syndrome... Check the archives. Lobelia is good for seizure disorders. I am just wondering if something new has been introduced in her diet or environment? Think about that one for sure... What is she taking before you make changes or add anything???? What is her diet like? Tell us more about her please. God Bless, Jamie in Az
Guest guest
Her diet? Well, sigh, she eats more than her share of junk food (loves french fries!). She goes to a public school, and has the same tastes as any other middle school kid. She's more " normal " than not. She wasn't on any meds until today. Last time she had the big seizures, I had given her some OTC commercial cold medicine (Benadryl cold) for congestion. I thought the seizures were related to the Benadryl. Now, she has a cold and has had nothing but eucalyptus ointment for her chest to help her breathe. She had two seizures early this morning. They seem to be related to her getting colds, at least so far. Also, she's just beginning puberty, and I've heard that that could be related to it. Today, we took her to the Pediatrician, and she called the neurologist, who prescribed an anti-seizure med. called Keppra. I'm giving that to her. We're praying tonight will be quiet, and she'll sleep peacefully. I'll try the lobelia, too. I once met a mom with a baby with a seizure disorder who was on a ketogenic diet, and that helped. I'll look into that. I'm a firm believer in alternative solutions. herbal remedies , SpareRibOfAz@a... wrote: > In a message dated 4/17/2004 10:49:42 PM US Mountain Standard Time, > snowkitty912002 writes: > Because we want to cover all bases, we're taking her to a > pediatrician and she's had an eeg already. This can play a large part in her health. Sounds like you can talk to her and explain how important nutrition is. Hopefully she is having a reaction to diet and/or OTC meds. Your right about puberty... This is such a huge hormonal change especially with someone who already has physical challanges. Talk to Doc and maybe try one of the female formulas to help her balance her hormones more efficently. Today, we took her to the Pediatrician, and she called the neurologist, who prescribed an anti-seizure med. called Keppra. I'm giving that to her. You never did tell me if you have talked to Doc Ian yet or if you have listened to his free tape?? I am sure he will be able to help you get her on a program that will give her the best health possible. Really it would take forever through the email to get full understanding as to what is going on with her and what exactly she needs. I think Doc would want to see major dietary changes, a cleanse, lobelia, & DMSO... Think about giving him a call, especially now that you added a prescription medication with changes everything. Best of luck to you. God Bless, Jamie in Az
