Jan,

If you're taking TN and doing organic juices, I don't see why not. What herbs, formulas are you taking daily?

A juice fast will also kick in a detox, which would cause me concern about the baby getting anything through the breastmilk. Is this not a concern??

I kind of wondered about that myself.

But then also, why is she wanting to detox? And is the breast milk

better as is, if she needs detoxing or better while on the juice fast

since it is slowly becoming better and the baby is getting cleaner

and cleaner nutrients?

Another option would be to pump and feed him pre-pumped breast milk

from bottle during the 3-days?

I would not. It is sorta like what would happen if you went really low carb and went into ketosis. The toxins are dumped into the breast milk.

Ok, this is what I was thinking, too. I'll just have to wait until she weans I guess, unless Doc has other thoughts on it :-)

I read someplace that the breasts/breast

milk are not used for elimination. The skin and elimination organs IE

kidneys, colon, etc. are the avenue of escape for toxins. I don’t

have the source for this but it made sense to me at the time I read it.

I think it would be good if that were true, but even from the point of "where do the raw materials come from" there might be an issue. Breast milk may not be a point of elimination, but loosing toxins in the system may still get some dragged into it, no? I'm no expert here, just thinking out loud...

That brings to mind an article I read about doing a cleanse while breastfeeding. I want to say it was by Dr. Schulze but I'm not sure.

He said if doing a cleanse while breastfeeding the baby will get a very small trace of what herbs you're taking. Don't recall it saying anything about dangerous toxins getting to your baby.

But Elaine,

doesn't that depend on how your diet is to begin with -- if you are eating healthy to begin with, organic, etc.

and also, she said BUT the baby still nurses several times a day, meaning, what else is the baby taking??? Better yet, I would think, would be to start introducing organic juices into the body on a gradual basis.

I know that insulin doesn't transfer into breast milk of a diabetic... so it would seem that most toxins would not either... of course, chemo therapy does.

See my earlier post Jan.

This whole question is determined by how toxic you are in present time.

Have you listened to my cassette lecture yet??? This would have some excellent nutrition ideas for you that could be done by you now and would only help. See my earlier post on this and you determine whether or not you feel "that" toxic.

Love,

Doc
