Guest guest
actually, at least here in NY, most places that I go to purchase the 100 proof vodka have to special order it in glass bottles for me because I refuse to purchase it in plastic bottles. You can't purchase everclear legally in NY anyway. My tinctures are pretty potent, most of what I make are things that I have harvested myself so that may make the difference as I am making them from fresh plant material. I just made a really nice violet syrup yesterday which is great for sore throats and lung inflammation. The violet flowers were so beautiful and made a wonderful syrup, ymmmmmmm and this weekend I'm going to go harvest dandelion flowers and make dandelion flower oil which is terrific for breast massage and also a dandelion flower tincture that I like to mix with the leaf and root tincture that I'll make at the right time of year for them. Guest guest
Doc, I love using violet. Just looking at the plant can infuse you with much healing. I use violet a lot in helping to dissolve lumps and bumps. For that I use a violet infused olive oil. I make that by taking fresh violet leaves filling up a jar and then filling it up again with organic olive oil and letting it sit for a minimum of 6 weeks. You need to make sure that for the first few days that you keep opening the jar and releasing the air and water in it (I do this by sticking a chopstick in the jar and the bubbles release ) and then adding a little more olive oil so that there is no air. I find that the violet oil is wonderful. I recently had a client, a collie, with a bump on his nose which had been there for 6-12 months. The vet had tried things to get rid of it and then he came to me. I tried a few things and then decided on the violet oil. Boy was I surprised when I received a phone call less than a week after he started applying the oil and it was gone. I love them phone calls The oil is nice to put on bumps and lumps and is terrific to massage on the breasts. It helps dissolve cysts especially for those women with cystic breasts and is nice to put on tumors as it helps to dissolve. I love using violet for lots of things. The infusion (making a strong tea, taking 1 oz of herb to a quart of water and letting it steep 4-8 hours) is terrific for the digestive system. It helps move things through the digestive track and helps when there is a lot of gas pain, distention and pressure. It has a cooling effect on inflamed mucal surfaces so is great for sore throats and inflammation on the lungs. Its great for drinking and infuses tons of vitamins including lots of vitamin c into your system. For any digestive cancers, violet is a wonderful drink as it likes to dissolve things that don't belong there. It is also nice to drink as it is a demulcent, anti-inflammatory herb with alterative, cooling properties. It's nice for soothing the digestive system and improving elimination problems. Violet Syrup: (for sore throats, relieving coughs and bronchitis, to help bring up phlegm and it also works as a soothing digestive tonic.) Take 5 cups of fresh violet flowers and 1 cup of fresh violet leaves, cover them with 5 cups of boiling water (filtered or distilled) and cover with a tight lid. Leave on your counter for 24 hours. Stain the plant material out and either use a press to get all the liquid out of the plant material or if you don't have one, take small amounts in your hand and squeeze them till they have no more liquid in them ( the best stuff comes out of that). Put the liquid in a pot and warm up, but make sure it doesn't boil. Add 4 cups of honey (raw honey). Stir until the honey is dissolved. Bottle and store in a cool pantry. Use 1-2 Tablespoons at a time. Bonnie Rogers - Doc Shillington herbal remedies Monday, April 19, 2004 11:26 PM Re: Herbal Remedies - lung tincture?
