The Committee's Findings and Recommendations - Don Eitner Suspended as a Moderator

Dear All,

By now most of you are aware of my previous post on the subjects of Hypnotism and Regression Therapy, as were being defended / promoted by Don Eitner (moderator).

In order to give him and the other moderators involved the benefit of the doubt, I decided to form a committee (without my guidance or input to keep it impartial), to investigate whether or not there was a serious breach in our list's policies, and if so, what if anything should be done about it.

The committee was chaired by Valorie (List Co-Owner), and the members were Lisa Belcher (Senior Moderator), and Zeb Sims (Moderator).

The following are the recommendations of the Committee, and they are thanked for their time and effort.

The findings and recommendations are accepted in full as-is without any amendment by me. The appropriate policies mentioned have been created and are now in the files. I hope my previous post on Don's post clarifies the issue. From this point on, the subjects of Hypnotism and Regression Therapy are terminated and the thread is closed. They also are now formally classified in policy as being forbidden subjects for this list.

Findings and Recommendations:

After reviewing all of the information at hand, these are the findings and recommendations:

1. It would have been more ideal had Mary communicated her viewpoint directly to Suzi off list. Mary had called Doc prior to making this post. But, when Mary reached Doc he did not have time to handle this topic and told Mary to handle it the best way she could. Mary felt she was representing him and doing what he would do. She is commended for her effort to take responsibility for something she felt was important.

Handling: Doc will make additions to the policies to make it very clear that all moderators are part of our group and need to work together as a team. This policy will clearly state that differences of opinion between moderators will “ALWAYS” be kept off the list until such point as Doc can intervene and set things straight. It is Doc’s job to settle differences between Moderators OFF list. I think you will all agree that true data is what we all want on the list. Any differences of opinion between moderators will be settled and decided upon by Doc whose decision will be final on the matter. If needed, he will write a new policy.

2. Suzi was correct in responding to Mary off list and is commended for not putting her upset on the list. This demonstrated her willingness to keep the disagreement off the list and between moderators and demonstrates responsibility as a team member.

Handling: Same as 1. above.

Further handling: Doc to clearly state in the policy that Hypnotism and Regression are OT (Off topic) for the list due to the fact that these practices have been corrupted by the insidious infiltration of Psych Technology making the practice and results unworkable and harmful or at the very least, questionable.

3. Don’s lengthy post after being requested by Mary, a fellow moderator, to "stop", is found to be uncalled for, unhelpful, harmful to the list relations and most definitely not an effort to get along and work with a fellow moderator.

Handling: Don is to remain suspended as a moderator and on "moderate" by Doc until such time as he can prove to be a congenial part of the overall group. Should he wish to change this status, he may petition Doc directly by email with his reasons for wishing to have his orginal status restored.

Further recommendations: Both Mary and Suzi (should they both choose to remain on as moderators) should handle their upset with each other.

With the exception of Don jumping in with both feet, this situation simply appears to be one in which there was a difference of opinion between Mary and Suzi in which Suzi felt her authority and credibility on the list was attacked or made less of. Unbeknownest to Suzi, Mary had been upset enough to call Doc and ask him to please handle the topic and instead was in the position of having to do something about it herself. As stated above, these actions are understood and we believe handled by the above recommendations.

Our moderators are a wonderful group of willing people who support us and the cause we represent. We love you all!!! This action was taken only to give us time to sort this out. Without the post by Don, this action would not have been necessary.

So let’s all get on with our jobs of spreading the word of Natural Healing and work even harder at doing only those actions we would not mind having happen to us. A moment to think this thought through and remember that we are all valuable people in our group, could lead to even smoother sailing ahead. Good teamwork gets much more done than any single person ever could.
