Guest guest
Dear Guys, First of all folks, I'd like to apologize to all of you for having been gone for so long, and I"m sorry to have left this vital thread dangling without comment by myself for the last two weeks. These things should be handled quickly, so they don't get "sticky", but time simply would not allow it. I am attempting to organize my schedule so that I can spend more time on list. Hopefully this attempt will bear fruit. My comments and the little research I could do (time allowing) are below in this style, color, and font. Love, Doc Ian "Doc" Shillington N.D.727-738-0554Doc - Don Quai herbal remedies Saturday, March 20, 2004 2:02 PM Re: Herbal Remedies - Regression / Hypnotism ???? / Suzanne Actually Mary,Psychiatrists and psychologists do not actually train hypnotherapists. They may have an influence on the subject matter now taught today, this may be true. Hypnotism or magnetism has been around as long as man has, long before psychiatry and psychology were ever conceived. This is false! see: http://www.ericksonian.com/history_template.htm also see: http://www.hypnoschool.com/hypnosis_instructors.html on the teachers who teach the teachers = a psychologist and / or psychiatrist. Milton Erickson is considered the father of modern hypnotherapy.> Milton Erickson> 'Milton H. Erickson' ( 1901 - 1980 ) was a psychiatrist regarded by many as> the foremost practitioner of medical hypnosis in his time. He was founding> president of the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis , as well as "a> fellow" of several APAs: The American Psychiatric Association , The American> Psychological Association , and The American Psychopathological Association.Furthermore, just as your ancient Shaman did NOT call Hypnosis by that name (in those days it was simply called a "trance" in whatever language of the ethnic area), similarly, the Psych of the day was not called a Psychiatrist or a Psychologist, but they certainly existed if only as the High Priest of some Snake or Cockroach Cult trying to run a slave/control operation on the masses in general. The Psychs by whatever name have been around for a very, very long time even though the label has changed with the times. Also as an added note, it was far more common for the ancient Shaman or Medicine Man to put himself into a trance rather than any subject. This was usually done in order to divine some purpose or other. Maybe the technology of regression has come from modern day psychiatry but not hypnosis. Not true. See above. Also see: http://www.athealth.com/Consumer/farticles/Pearson.html and http://home.sprynet.com/~jelias/ and http://www.spiritualregression.org/lifebetweenlives/directors.html These are the stock and trade of the Psych. Also, per Webster's New World Dictionary of the American Language (second edition), Regression as a Psych term is defined as, "reversion to earlier or more infantile behavior patterns". It even has its own specialized "psych" definition. Furthermore, per the same dictionary, "Hypnosis" is defined as 1. "a sleep like condition, psychically induced, usually by another person, in which the subject is in a state of altered consciousness, and responds with certain limitations to the suggestions of the hypnotist. 2. Spellbound. As must be obvious when you truly look at this, one is placing one's "cause" into the hands of another person. Literally, to allow oneself to be hypnotized is to place one's full responsibility to oneself and others, into the hands of another individual. This is not only "non-causative", and "non-naturopathic" by definition, it is also very dangerous which I'll get into a little further down. Many physicians have used various forms of hypnosis throughout history, with astounding success, without trying to instill control over another other than to alleviate the pain associated with surgery or other forms of broken body manipulations in the pre-anesthesia and analgesic eras. First of all, I take umbridge with the "many physicians" in the above paragraph, as hypnosis, has been the stock and trade of the Psych for eons, so I can only deduce that the word physician as used by Don is only a covert synonym for "Psych". Furthermore, by the very nature and definition of Hypnotism, the practice DOES instill control over another. This IS the very foundation of Hypnotism!!! I oughta know as I've studied it very thoroughly and even tried it a few times in my much younger days. And don't believe that you can't get someone to do something that they "truly don't want to do". This is false! There are certain levels of a hypnotic trance where you can get certain subjects to do anything, including murder. If you think the movie "Conspiracy Theory" is based on fantasy, you have another thought coming. There is a complete "Psych" technology based on PDH = Pain; Drugs; Hypnosis, whereby people have been "programmed" to do just about anything. This "tech" has been being used by various governments around the world since the 1930's and has been in existence in one shape or form for much longer. The entire threat of the Thugs in India and the Assassins in Arabia back in the 12th to the 17th Century were based on this tech. Almost any nurse will tell you that one of the easiest ways to handle a difficult or troublesome patient is to give him or her a few post operative suggestions while they are still under anesthesia. It also explains why a very few patients "fall in love" with their nurses and even divorce their wives to marry this altruistic Florence Nightingale. This doesn't happen often, but it has happened. I think I take the greatest offense to Don's phrase of "with astounding success". The clinical truth of the matter is that these successes are very limited indeed. Ohhh, there may over time have been a few successes by accident. I'll give it that. There is an "apparency" that the odd person gets some positive results "sometimes", and in the area of "pain control", this appears to be a benefit. The reality is that Hypnosis is extremely limited in this area and is not even as effective as Opium which will relieve the pain very effectively and biochemically. Nor is it as fast as Opium, and furthermore, not everyone is willing to, or can, or wish to "go under" without the drugs. This begs the question of why one would use hypnosis if one is using drugs in the first place to handle the pain??? From a mental viewpoint, it is only by accident that Hypnosis or Regression will permanently handle anything, and when they truly do, it is usually due to the already strong character of the individual they are being practiced on, and who only needs to have his attention focused on the problem at hand in the first place to handle it. For the most part, these technologies bury the problem rather than erase them, so there is an apparency that they are gone when in fact they are simply "turned off" and / or are dormant. In one to a dozen years or so, the problem can come back ten fold with a vengeance. So if you are inferring that the using of this form of "therapy" constitutes one as being a psychiatrist or psychologist then all shamans, medicine men and medicine women and countless healers throughout history are guilty as they are the ones who have actually brought this technology to the light of day at the beginning of man's history. Even though many Shamans, Medicine Men, and Medicine Women had the "greatest good" of their tribe in mind, there were also those who were similar to the Psychs and were unscrupulous as well. Do you remember the "High Aldwin" in the movie "Willow" who asked Willow if he truly loved the Dahkini child??? It was only after Willow answered in the affirmative that this "Shaman" would translate what the "Bones" had said. Not that this was a bad action in this particular movie, I simply wish to point out that these men and women are not above a little manipulation, and sometimes, complete domination if they were unscrupulous enough. However, since we are now sliding over into the area of religious belief, I will say no more on it other than this. Every practice has had its unscrupulous characters in charge of this area at one time or another. Being a holy man does not make one holy. One can only be judged by what one does. On the contrary, the "technologies" of Psychiatry and Psychology with their "man is an animal" philosophy are only destructive. They have NO workable technology. Their goal as a group is not freedom for the individual, but further enslavement as one and all adjust themselves to the existing environment rather than trying to causatively change it for the better. It is not the therapy that is wrong. It is how it is used by certain individuals that gives it a bad name. All therapies that have been, are now or probably ever will be will fall under this same stigma as long as man cannot control his own ego. There are no exceptions, none. Until I, you, and every other person on the face of this planet achieves spiritual perfection there will continue to be problems that stem from the ego. This is perhaps the biggest piece of psych indoctrinated bull shit I've read in a long time. Don has even used (in Psych terminology), the word "ego" to put his point across. Of course, this is not where the word comes from, and is just another psych perversion of a perfectly good word. "Ego" is a direct Latin translation for "I am". This is all it means!!! The psychs of course have perverted it to mean gawd only knows what. How can one achieve spiritual perfection without the "ego"??? This concept is ludicrous, since the ego is who the person is. The ego is the person. Any other definition is simply a psych bastardization. Hypno Therapy is wrong!!! Too many people on this planet are already asleep, and if anything, need to be woken up. The above is nothing more than "right-think" as Orwell would say. In no way do I condone the practice of psychiatry or psychology. I am totally against their unethical and barbaric ways of drugging, slicing and dicing, electrifying, attempts at controling the masses etc. But then I am totally against that when found in any modality of therapy. The only reason a person feels they need to control another is because of the lack of control they have within themselves. Balderdash! This is Psych-think. It is really sad that certain factions have control of these "therapies" for their own misguided purposes. Unfortunately, these certain factions also have control of most monopolized "therapies" that exist today, for their own misguided purposes and they are attempting to eradicate all others that they cannot monopolize. All of this madness occurs only because each and every one of us have not, as yet, assumed mastery of our own egos. What is he saying here, "mastery of ourselves"??? This would be the literal translation. In psych terms - wellllllllllllllllllllll, your guess is as good as mine. The bottom line is that both Regression Therapy and Hypnotism as used by the Psych and others put people to sleep. Rather than confronting certain problems or facing the reality of the way things are, these technologies actually lessen the awareness of the individual so that they give up their own responsibility for their own actions. And in the process of transferring their responsibility to the hypnotist, the individual also gives up his or her own power, including the power of choice. In the long run Regression and Hypnotism make people dull and sink them further into the muck regardless of any "apparent" short term benefit. Love, Doc PS. The "No Psych" policy for the list has been updated to reflect the above viewpoint. Please re-read it.
