Guest guest
Hi, I need advice on what to get for my 4yo son. I'm having pressure from my mom to take him to the doctor NOW, and I know all they will do is prescribe an antibiotic for him. I need something to help with his problem ASAP. His symptoms are: --runny nose --congestion --cough --occasional fever --a little wheezing --possible ear ache (wasn't around him at the time, but was told about it) (almost like asthma or RSVP) He's had these symptoms in the past but even worse. I don't really have time or enough knowledge on this to make something up myself, so if anyone has tried something and can recommend a brand name that I could buy at the HFS, it would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks! Cindy
Guest guest
Total Tonic sounds like a good idea. If his ears hurt, put garlic juice (or oil) directly in his ears and leave it in there for about 3 min an ear. I did this to myself just last night. cpinokc [pruegert] Thursday, April 01, 2004 7:41 AMherbal remedies Subject: Herbal Remedies - urgent help with sonHi, I need advice on what to get for my 4yo son. Guest guest
For fever I would give him hot elder flower tea with honey, or linden tea. Wrep him in cotton blankets and make him to sweat. For cough I woul make tea of murshmallow root. Put some root in cold water after a few hours streing add honey and fresh lemon juice. Or make strong infusion of ginger and fennel. I would give him a lot of honey in tea, honey has antibacterial action. Lavander essential oil on a pillow or handkerchief will encourage sleep and aid the healing process. I would put sage or thyme tea in big pot with boiling water to evaporate in the room whre the child is, it will clean the air and prevent the reinfection. Guest guest
here's what I do formy 4 yr old, always have, and has always worked, havent needed to see a dr for her since she was several months old.. HERBSFORKIDS makes echinacea/astragalus drops(A must have IMO), give it to him, tells you how much on the bottle, it's excellent at getting heir immune system back to good working order..she's never had an earache in her life, i gather that to her not eating dairy (knock on wood)..but I have, mullein oil is excellent, you can buy it at the health store, warm it up and put a couple drops in or you can soak a cloth with it and lace it over his ear while he sleeps..for the congetion ive always rubbed vicks on my chest before i laid down with her so she gets some but not the full strength, you can use kids mentolatum or some camphor oil(you can put some in a cup of warm/hot water and let him breathe some in..and DO DO some CPT (chest percussion treatment) after, just cup your hand and pound his lung area on his back(I had asthma as a kid and it's really the best thing, gets everything loose and up, now i do it for my girl if she shows congestion signs)..keep a humidifier for him at nite..for a fever, you really shouldnt make a young child warmer when they have a fever, ive seen a lot of problems come from this:( if anything keep them cool, put them in a slightly warm bathtub, helps keep the body at an equal temp AND it helps distract them:)which can help in making hem feel better..and i hope you've eliminated ALL dairys from his diet, they can really doa nasty job when it comes to congestion and all those boogeys..you can up his vitamin c with a nice herbal vitamin if you want..this has always worked when she'd get rather sick, even got her over rubella and bronchitis this way.. you might want to look into him maybe having allergies if the same sort of thing has been happening.. herbal remedies , " cpinokc " <pruegert@n...> wrote: > Hi, I need advice on what to get for my 4yo son. Guest guest
A wonderful thing to do for your sons ear is to warm an onion (which most of us have in the house ) in a toaster oven, then let it cool to a temperature that you can comfortably attach it to his ear (generally using a bandana around it works) and let him sleep with it. You can actually take a piece of the onion and place it in the canal (at the top) and then put the half onion over the ear, tie it on with a bandana. The gunk in the ear usually gets pulled out and looks rather icky when you take it off in the morning. Good luck. The mullein flower and garlic drops work well and can actually be put in the ear at the same time as the above. Just makes it even more effective Bonnie Rogers - John Ybarra herbal remedies Thursday, April 01, 2004 8:27 PM RE: Herbal Remedies - urgent help with son Would mullien and garlic drops work in this situation?
