My thing is that the pack has to have toxins building up in it so I would not use it more than 1 week, and if you can afford the castor oil, which is fairly inexpensive, I would use a new pack each time. I would not want the toxins hanging out in my pack just to be reabsorbed back into my system. Others disagree with me. God Bless & Thanks Rabiah for your directions!! Jamie Hi Jamie and Grannie, I am glad to share, I did forget to mention that you need to wash the area with soap after the treatment ,they helped my husband a lot. People should use what is easiest for them and what they feel most comfortable with. and however you choose to use the castor oil pack is fine . For me it would depend on the reason I was using it ,type of condition , and the area of placement too. I use a pack for about a week at a time. I would think that any toxins absorbed would be drawn deep into the pack and destroyed when heated. If I were dealing witha bacterial or viral infection or infestation of some type then I would certainly disgard it after each use As for the microwave have never been comfortable with them. I received one as a gift and the family used it until it started sounding like it was going to electricute the person who was using it. The idea of rearranged molecules makes me feel like I am taking chances wit my well being. Someone told me ,or ai read a story one about a nurse who heated up a bag of IV blood in a microwave rather than in a pan of wrm water , the molecular structer of the blood was of course changed and the patient consequently died.It is a very convenient tool but I cannot shake the feeling that i am robbing the food of its nutrition by using it and ,isn't that why we eat afterall for the nutrients? Of course that shouldn't matter for a heat pack and if it wer just a dry cloth maybe it woudn't . but on the off chance that the healing properties of the oil might suffer I perfer the oven , toaster oven or steam in a double boiler.
