Safety of American Scullcap ?

I have a question about the safety of American Scullcap (Scutellaria

Lateriflora). I read that some American scullcap was mixed with

Germander (Teucrium Chamaedrys), which caused liver damage and could

be fatal.

I bought a couple of bottles of Nature's Answer Skullcap, alcohol

free, liquid tincture. I can't find any info online to put me at rest

about the possibility of this brand being mixed with Germander.

On the ingredient label, it just says coconut glycerin and purified

water. I want verification that there's no chance that this scullcap

is not pure. I've emailed the company, and am waiting for a response.

Any information or opinion will be appreciated, thanks.

I am a big user of scullcap. The best thing I can tell you to do is to go to

the health food store with the bottle and ask if they know about that brand. I

buy my scullcap in bulk at a whole foods store that carries herbs. I then cap

it in gel caps or make my own tincture. That way I know exactly what is in it.

Kandy, thank you so much for your reply and advice! The company has

responded and I'm at ease with the product I'm using.

Sincerely,

Jean
