Guest guest
Oliv oil was the rage for a while, then people started talking about it breaking down at cooking temperatuires. Canola oil gained and lost momentum too. Presently, I am reading more and more about the health benefits of cocfonut oil. So which oils do you prefer to cook with and why? I think it's only over 400 degrees (maybe 450 even) that it becomes a bad fat. When I do fry something, I use a nonstick pan, so it doesn't take much oil anyway. I use corn oil when I bake whole grain muffins or pancakes, because I like the flavor best, and it doesn't intrude when I'm using delicate blueberries or other fruits in them. I use flax seed oil for some salad dressings. Or walnut oil, or more olive oil, depending on what's going in with them. I don't use canola oil because the real name is rape seed oil, and that disturbs me. I know, strange!... it comes from doing dreamwork and being very aware that language has a lot of deeper meaning than we may notice. Rape is not a good thing, which of course, is why they choose to call it canola oil. I cannot bring myself to buy it. I thought coconut was a bad fat? Not anymore? It's hard to keep up sometimes! It's nice in sunscreen though. I wish! Winter is still dragging along here in Connecticut. <<<Oliv oil was the rage for a while, then people started talking about it breaking down at cooking temperatuires. I use Olive oil, often mixed with a bit of butter, just because it seems to work well. I use a heavy cast-iron frying pan on medium heat. And I am so tired of all the fads! Guest guest
All the oils in the market are chemically extracted so they are useless. If you need a non chemically extracted oil that is butter oil/ Cocunut is very good. Olive oil is destroyed by the heat in the cooking process. Guest guest
I personally use olive oil and butter most of the time but recently started using coconut oil. Always - Always ORGANIC. I also have safflower and sunflower oil. Guest guest
I love coconut oil! I recently shed 15 pounds, and now I am using coconut oil as one of my weight management tools. Whereas most lotions contain propylene glychol and other chemicals, I use it on my skin as a lotion replacement. And, best of all, I use it on my face as a replacement for skin cleansers/moisturizers. I also just bought a bag of coconut flour to cook with as it is much lower in carbs than other flours. I do still use olive oil in salad dressings and drizzled on foods. I make my own mayo, and prefer the taste of olive oil to canola oil. -Amanda , " gmpassociates " <gmpassociates wrote: > > Oliv oil was the rage for a while, then people started talking about it > breaking down at cooking temperatuires. > > Canola oil gained and lost momentum too. > > Presently, I am reading more and more about the health benefits of > cocfonut oil. > > So which oils do you prefer to cook with and why? >
Guest guest
I live in Kerala, South India. Kera means coconut tree and Kerala means Land of coconuts. For several centuries the people of Kerala use Coconut Oil for cooking, massaging and even as medicine. We put coconut oil over our head and body before bathing. We use raw coconut in most of food we eat. We have all sorts of diseases here just like any other part of the world. The occurrence of diabetes is little higher,I think. It may not be because of coconut oil. Whenever we build a new house, we plant a few coconut trees around it. We use its wood for roof work, its leaves for thatching the roof, its flowers for Ayurvedic medicines, its wood for burning etc. Tender coconuts are good as softdrink and palm wine also is made from the tree. Constant warnings against coconut oil (cholesterol etc) by medical profession (who are controlled by multinationals) has decreased the coconut oil consumption which in turn decreased coconut price.
