That's the only thing I found that helped when I was having pretty big problems awhile back. What I took was magnesium oxide - the Spring Valley brand; didn't try anything else since that worked so well and was so cheap. 8 pills stopped an attack within the hour, and eased it every time after that. Now I make sure to take a fair amount of magnesium at least every few days, and haven't had any asthma for awhile. I moved, though, so that may have had something to do with it. Just about everybody's deficient in magnesium, anyway.
