I am looking into detox methods and wondering which, if any really

work. I have looked into foot pads, colonic irrigation and internal

cleanse through supplements. Does anybody have experience with these

and what were your results? Thanks.

Hello,

The detox methods you describe all have their effectiveness. The

question is what do you want to achieve? Do you have toxins such as

heavy metals in your body? Or do you just feel sluggish after the

winter and want to do a Spring Detox?

Foot Pads draw toxins out through the feet. The clinic I worked in for

a while was using them for clients who were heavily toxic or had

stomach troubles and could not do a diet detox. There is also a gentle

detox called the Ionic Detox. It is a footbath that draws toxins out

through the feet. The only caution there is if you have a pace maker

or transplanted organ it is not recommmended you do this detox,

because you deal with electrical currents.

Colinic irrigation is very beneficial if you have an impacted colon.

This means that your colon is impacted with fecal matter. The

irrigation gets rid of the matter and also hydrates your colon. Dr

Bernard Jensen was a great fan of this method in the middle of 20th

century.

By internal cleanse I imagine you are thinking of detoxing through

diet. There are a myriad of methods out there. One that I highly

recommend is the Wildrose Detox from Wildrose Clinic in Canada

(available by shipping to U.S.) It detoxes and nourishes the body at

the same time. You can also do a detox just by eating certain foods

and drinking plenty of water.

As you can see all the methods are effective. But coming back to my

original question the first step is what do YOU want to achieve?

All the Best,

When the sink is clogged we need to clear the drain first. Baling out

the water will empty the sink but cleaning the drain will keep the

water flowing.

All detox should start with the bowels, fiber cleanses help pull out

old toxins and acids that have built up. If we eat 3x a day and only

move our bowels 1x we have a potential serious health concern brewing.

The next thing to addresss is the liver as it has to filter out

everything our body comes in contact with.

This of course includes all of the chemical preservatives, colorings,

genetically modified foods, hormones we ingest daily. Also includes

all of the chemcial products most use daily for skin care, soap,

lotions, many ingredients include formaldahyde a commonly used

preservative, (think embalming fluid) and known carcinogen.

Milk thistle, burdock, liver support herb formulas will really help

with this.

Mood swings, depression, skin rashes, breakouts, always feeling tired,

will even affect the hormones. These are some symptoms of congested

liver.

Making better food choices, eating healthier foods, try to get organic

when possible including meat if you choose to do that. Dairy that does

not contain the bovine growth hormone and doing less dairy anyway as

it is congesting to the body is another easy thing to do.

Understanding body pH finding out if your body is too acid which

causes a mirad of health problems, chronic inflammation... root cause

of many diseases if left un attended. Eating more alkaline foods, is

another easy way to help your body detox.

Getting food enzyme going because as we age, we do not have enough

enzymes to break down our foods and instead they end up putrifiying

instead of digesting... Gas, bloating, burping, constipation, bad

breath are some indicators.

Making these few changes that are easy will allow the body to start to

release toxins and you sure will feel better. The body can't wait to

get rid of what we have accumulated over the years, all it needs is

some support with better food choices, and some specific herbal

formulas and food supplements to really make some changes.

This is the smart way to get started, please don't overwhelm yourself

with big heavy metal detox or even foot spa's.

Prepare and feed your body, let the elimination organs have a chance

to cleanse a little first, so when you do get into doing more specific

detoxing it all has a place to go... out the door!!

This is what happens to those who say I started herbs and felt worse,

the herbs work, the acids, toxins etc. had no where to go so they were

reabsorbed and the person had flu like symptoms.

It should not be that way, we already know how yucky feels!

If you would like more direction and herbal suggestions please e-mail

me off line. info

Both my husband and myself have been using 'BodyPure' foot detox pads

regularly for the past 1 1/2 months. The color on the pad in the

morning has gotten lighter, be neither of us have felt any real

substantial benefits. We haven't had the pads tested in a lab, so I'm

not sure of any toxin levels.

I've also tried the Colonix detox a couple of times. I think it was

beneficial, but maybe not worth the price. Metamucil, Cascara

Sagrada, and cleansing herbs may be just as effective.
