Car Sickness - Toddlers

Hey ya'll,

my brother and his kids came to visit last night. And when they were

preparing to leave, my sister in law gave my 3 year old niece a little

Dramamine for her car sickness (they live about 1.5 hours away from

us). She said she throws up a lot from the bumps in the city driving....

I was just wondering - is there an alternative to using Dramamine ? Or

is Dramamine not so bad to use on little kids ?

anyone have any experience with this ?

thanks !

have a great week,

Deb :)

I don't really have an alternative except for the wrist bands they

sell here in Southeast Alaska for sea sickness.

They have a small plastic button on the inside which activates a

pressure point and relieves motion sickness. Check your local pharmacy.

I can definitely tell you that Dramamine is NOT good for a

toddler...or anyone!

Peace,

Jenn

I have been helped tremendously from car sickness using ginger. A weak

tea made with ginger & peppermint & sweetened with honey (depending on

age), maple syrup, or stevia is delicious & can be sipped before &

during the drive. I found that prevention is key.

Did anyone mention ginger? Also now I am a believer in NAET treatments

and acupuncture so maybe something alternative like these although

NAET is allergy or emotional/physical relevant I hear too.

Gosh, no drugs here endorsed.

There is a very effective and very safe homepathic spray for car

sickness, nausea from the movement of a plane or cruise ship, also

helps nausea with stomach flu. Perfectly safe to use for babies, pets,

people of all ages.

Alcohol and sugar free, please contact me offline.

I'm 50 and used Dramamine growing up. I loved that it worked (taste

back then was terrible) I gave it to my own kids. Don't know if

there's a downside to it but, as I said, I'm 50! I, and my kids,

seemed to grow past that carsick/motion sickness stage, but

occasionally riding in a backseat or something will have it come back.

Also - wearing a pair of sunglasses helped, just any glasses,

something about the pressure, maybe on the nose area? Don't know but

it helped.
