Guest guest
Hi, I'm new and have been trying to do some searching in the archives for scars, but I come up with over 800 posts and I just don't have time to thumb through them all. I was wondering about some good Essential Oils or creams that would help with scars. I of course know about vitamin E, but I've also heard that it can hinder the healing and cause scars to stretch. So I was wondering what else is good. So far what I have heard might be good is Lavendar, Lemon, or Hyssop. Also should you wait until all scabs are gone? And what about massage on the area? Thanks. Guest guest
Scabs are part of the healing process and I would most definitely use the Vit E, and any essential oil while they are still there. This helps the scab to soften and not tear away from the tender skin, much like neosporin helps heal faster. Then you will avoid the heavier scarring around the edges of the wound. The plus to lavender oil or comfrey ointment is that they also help fight infection. I've used a mixture of honey, vit E, comfrey root powder and fresh aloe to cover burns with excellent results. Guest guest
Namaste, Therapeutic massage is also good for scars...it's helps to reduce the amout of scar tissue. Hemp oil is full of omega 3's and should be good. Pure virgin olive oil helps any part of the body, every day, inside and out. Good luck, Blessings! Guest guest
Is there a treatment for old scars? I have had a breast reconstruction and the scars are really ugly. Thanks. Guest guest
Jenny has some great suggetions. Also if you happen to have E/O of Helichrysum that mixed in with the Vit E will do amazing things. If not i would add MSM to the Vit E. The MSM dissolves scars and lays down healthy smooth tissue. Just open 6 capsules and add to the mix. It would be making your own fabulous scar salve. If you have comfrey and aloe to add to it as mentioned before all the better. Guest guest
My herbal friend Magda's healing salve, based on plantain, chickweed and other herbs infused in olive oil has proven remarkably effective at removing even OLD scars. A family friend is documenting the slow disappearance of a ten-year old scar on his daughter's face. Plantain can do that. MMO* is ridiculously cheap, and so harmless you could put it on your bread and eat it. I use it as lipbalm. This is also an excellent topical for childhood eczema. Her website is here. They have just moved to a larger, off grid homestead, and are still putting in the new systems. She gets email in town at least once a week, but service may not be quite as prompt as usual. http://flyinghandsfarm.addr.com *that's what I call it. Maggie's Magic Ointment. Guest guest
Jenny, Thank you for this info. I looked up comfrey root and it warned against using with high blood pressure, so i will try lavvender by itself for now. Guest guest
Anette, Thanks for this info. I was unable to find Helichrysum E/O at my local natural grocier, but I did find MSM in caplet form. Would I just open these and mix with the Vit E or could it be mixed with Olive Oil as well? Guest guest
For Lavender, does it need to be diluted in a carrier oil for wounds/
Guest guest
Besides the vitamin e, you can also try aloe vera. Just rub the aloe off the plant and just just rub it on the scar or scab and just doing it every day for awhile and you'll notice it gone! I also like using coco butter lotion, it'll take awhile for the coco butter to get rid of the scars but slowly it will work.
