Guest guest
Hi friends, my friend has been suffering with heartburn for years. She takes the over the counter type stuff, but it affects her negatively in other ways. Any suggestions naturally to remedy heartburn ? thanks so much, deborah
Guest guest
I'll tell you what I found out on my own and which is working great for me. Club soda, as bubbly as possible, for one. The second, a sweet apple, eaten during the day, devided in small portions. I start my day with a quarter of an apple, peeled, of course. The remaining three quarters I eat during the day, before eating my meals or when the heartburn manifests. Let her not eat the whole apple at one time. She must chew it thoroughly. Do not eat acid apples. I use Golden. I hope this helps. It helps me better than any medication. --- Deborah <gubertush wrote: > Hi friends, > my friend has been suffering with heartburn for years. Guest guest
Has she seen a GI specialist about this problem? I ask this because it is important to know the underlying cause of the heartburn or at least to rule a couple of important things out. If the heartburn is being caused by a hiatal hernia, the act of breathing can pull the stomach in such a way that gastric acids back up into the esophagus. Not only is this uncomfortable but it literally erodes the esophageal tissue and can lead to some very serious long term problems including cancer. Hiatal hernia is only one of many possibilities for a cause but if her problem has been going on for this long she should definately try to find out why. If that is indeed the problem, chances are that it will need to be surgically repaired. If that is not the cause of the heartburn, major dietary changes would be the best course of action. This would include, finding out & avoiding any foods that she is allergic to, eating less acidic foods in general & breaking free of the industrial food chain. Guest guest
Make a food diary - write down everything she eats - and I mean EVERYTHING! Even gum. Then write down when she gets heartburn. You can pretty much tell which foods to avoid. Also plant-based enzymes and probiotics will help. I remember being at a health fair one time, a man came up to me with that question - how to get rid of heartburn. And I asked him if he could identify which foods are causing it - and he said " Every time I eat cheesecake I get terrible heartburn. " I asked him if he couldn't just eliminate the cheesecake. And he said no because he loves it too much. Heartburn is very easy to control - it's all diet related. So - you can talk until you're blue in the face and tell people how to be healthy, but until they actually decide they WANT to be healthy, you usually can't do anything for them. A lot of people really like the attention they get when they are sick and can complain of ailments. Not saying this is your friend, but I actually have a sister who loves to complain about being sick! Get it from the healthfood store or market. Something that has been dried naturally. preferably without sugar or chemically treated. Snack on it before, but especially after your meals. I often use my dehydrater and make a large batch. Kids think they are eating candy. The otc stuff has so much junk in it. Why put that in our systems?
