Guest guest
I recently found out that my medication for Diabetis is not good. Treatment with glipizide may increase the risk of heart attack and death from cardiovascular disease is what it says on Google. It also says this with MANY diabetic drugs. What in the World is SAFE to take? Kathleen

Also Chromium Picolinate is a must for daily supplmentation. PS: Caution must be used if you take Bitter Melon supplement along with prescription meds, as blood sugar levels can get too low. Using Bitter Melon can get you off any meds for diabetes. Jean
Guest guest
When chosing to go naturally to control diabetes you want to look at the stressors behind the cause of the diabetes. Stressed adrenals and pancreas, diet et all contribute to the cause. Reduce or eliminate the stressors and you will also reduce or eliminate the need for additional insulin. Guest guest
I agree with Jean but strongly recommend that you make an appointment with a herbalist or alternative practitioner, or, if your doctor is open minded, discuss it with him. There could be other issues including diet choices that may hinder the effectiveness of your current medication. Daniela
Guest guest
Those side effects you meantioned can also be from poorly controlled diabetes. They cannot test glypizide on normally healthy people, so it would be extremely difficult to differintiate between med side effects and problems with BG control. I think Glypizide is used sometimes when insulin should be started. It works well only for the mildest forms of diabetes. I think the newer meds coming out will be much better such as Januvia. I was impressed with it when I helped with a trial. The trend will probably go to combination meds rather than using single. If I were you I'd look into a low carb diet knocking off grain entirely at very least. Paleo would be a good possibility. You need to taper down off the med if you don't want to take it but your blood sugar should be in a safe range. Its much better to do with with a practitioner who can monitor you and make sure the alternative medications and diet are working. I do think there is a very strong link between grains and possibly even legumes and type II Diabetes. I have seen in my work that its very difficult to manage blood sugars on a high grain diet even with whole grains. I think that a paleo diet would be worth a look. Anyway get with a practitioner pick the ideas that you think are worth trying and work on it.
