I recently noticed that they have it now in regular half gallon milk containers, so aluminum shouldn't be an issue with that package. On a daily basis I'm taking an additional Selenium tablet aside from my multi, because Selenium values are always low in patients with Alzheimers. I also do an Omega 3 fish oil and natural Vitamin E to avoid dementia. Jean
Guest guest
An alternative to buying rice, soy, almond milk, etc. is to make it. I bought a maker on eBay that basically heats the water then grinds the grain or nuts up in a filter basket and lets you know when it is done. They had recipes for many types of vegan milk. You could do the same thing with a blender and then filter the milk and I always filter a second time to reduce sediment. The remaining nut or grain can be used in cooking as well. Remember that many of the vegan milks have little or no calcium like dairy milk and those in the stores often add it for those concerned about getting enough calcium, vitamin D and other nutrients. For any of those that have the luxury of a Vitamix mixer, it will do a nice job. But the Vitamix is the crème de la crème of blenders. Guest guest
What kind of machine did you buy? How long does the process take for making milk? How long does it last in refrigerator? I have made almond milk before and the shelf life is very short--day or so. Thanks. carolg , " RNR " <rnr4biz wrote: > > An alternative to buying rice, soy, almond milk, etc. is to make it. Guest guest
Carol, Mine is a Vegi Gourmet. It is used by many Asians as most of the directions are either Chinese, Korean or Japanese, not sure which, but they do have instructions in English. For cleaning etc. you have to basically follow the pictures. It looks like a big metal pitcher with plastic top that houses the motor and plastic bottom. I use it primarily for soy milk which lasts longer than dairy which is true of the type you buy in the store as well. I will tell you that clean up is a bit tedious especially the filter basket as removing the residue is not all that easy at times. But you basically set it and forget it and it will keep beeping when done until you turn it off. It has settings for regular and extra thick but I don't find the extra thick to be all that more thicker.
