Guest guest
There's many types of Ginseng, Panax, Korean, Siberian, American, Eleuthro. Which Ginseng is best recommended for a healthy older woman who wants to use it daily for energy benefits? Is there a Ginseng that actually relaxes you? Guest guest
There are three types pf Ginseng; Oriental, American and Siberian. All of them are claimed to aid in reducing stress, improving vitality and boosting the immune system Oriental: (panax ginseng) comes in two forms, Korean which is red and Chinese, or White Oriental which is white; the difference is in the way the root is processed. The properties are similar. Especially advised for the elderly. American: (panax quinquefolium) Helps with hot flashes in menopausal women. Aids in reducing fever. Loosens mucus. Helps with dry coughs. Siberian: (eleutherococcus senticocus) Not a true ginseng but a distant relative to the Oriental type. Has similar properties. Very popular in Russia where scientists claim it boosts memory, stamina and endurance. Used by athletes and others involved in heavy manual work. Which one to use depends on cost and availability. They are all worthwhile, but Korean is the most popular. Hope this helps. Mike.
Guest guest
The answer, of course, would depend on the woman's constitution, but in general American Ginseng is well tolerated and has less pesticides than it's Chinese cousins. Also, Codonopsis (Dang Shen), is a good choice in that it's cheaper and better for long term use. I have never heard of a Ginseng that has a relaxing effect, but as a tonic herb, it does enhance other herbs that it is combined with, so one could utilise as part of a relaxing formula.
