Depression and Autism

A lot of research has been done regarding autism and what was thought

to be a " psychological " disroder has now been determined to be a

physical one. Some things in the body are not in proper working

condition.

Now, I have this " theory " that the same happens to depression. There

has to be something faulty in the body that provokes depression.

Does anyone have information or other ideas to shed light on this

topic?

Thanks.

Maria

Hi Hamish,

As a new member just joined into the group I would like to share

with you a group called the macemethod who are discussung right now

about the fantatsic results a young women has had with her

depression..... many of the feelings and thoughts of depression are

effects of upsets adn overwhelms in our lives, which then create

negative indentites which we beleive to be out who we are...and they

are not....

i myself am a practitioner now in this method and your comment saying

you have suffered depression for years caught me attention..... so to

let you exlplore for yourself .... this is a forum started by

clients...and then this leaves you to explore in your own journey and

knowledge.....

My own healing journey started twenty years ago from living in a

state of depression for two years that stopped my whole life....

This is my end result assisting others as I now know we do not have

to live with, suffer from, or manage these neagtive emotional or

mental illness ( as they are called and I persoanlly do not like) we

can eliminate them....

kindest regards

Sherrie

Could we go back and check the physical causes for depression?

This has me going nuts, but I am not in the physical healing

métier and would love to hear any ideas, or perhaps be directed

to some articles and such.

Thanks!

" Our study provides insight into how chronic stress triggers long-

lived changes in the brain "

" We have shown that silencer molecules turned off a gene for a key

protein in the brain's hippocampus "

" The gene expression changes due to long-lasting modifications in

histones, proteins that regulate the turning on-and-off of genes via

a process called methylation. Methyl groups, the silencer molecules,

attach themselves to the histones, turning off the gene " .

BDNF (derived neurotrophic factor)in the hippocampus has been linked

to memory, learning and depression, but Nestler said social defeat

stress probably similarly affects other genes there as well.

" The molecular scar induced by chronic stress in the hippocampus, and

perhaps elsewhere in the brain, can't be easily reversed, " said

Nestler.

" To really cure depression, we probably need to find new treatments

that can remove the silencer molecules. "

Eric Nestler, M.D., The University of Texas Southwestern Medical

Center - Nature Neuroscience February 26, 2006.

Depression can many times be caused by a physiological

cause. Stress reduction and deep relaxation does

address these issues. Changes in diet and the addition

of exercise and mediation is very beneficial.
