Here's an article: http://www.frot.co.nz/dietnet/basics/soy.htm I've been using Rice Dream for awhile now, and I really like it. I don't drink any milk, but it's great on cereal. It's organic too. Guest guest
Rice milk is the nearest thing to real milk that I've found. Although 'Rice Dream' is very good, a better one is 'Rice Drink' made by Kallo, available in some supermarkets and health food stores. There are two types of soy products available: fermented and non-fermented. The only ones I would recommend for consumption are the fermented products which include: Natto Miso Tempeh Soy sauces Fermented tofu Non-fermented soy contains phytic acid which binds to nutrients in the food, especially iron, making them unavailable to the body. It also contains other harmful substances and enzymes which interfere with the absorption of a wide range of nutrients, as well as the digestive process. The fermentation process destroys this phytic acid and also creates the probiotics--the " good " bacteria the body is absolutely dependent on, such as lactobacilli--that increase the quantity, availability, digestibility and assimilation of nutrients in the body. Guest guest
What is the difference between Rice Drink and Rice Dream? Rice Dream is way too sweet for me, would be nice to find something a bit less processed. Also, not terribly happy about the aluminum in the aseptic packaging. Guest guest
Hi Tymothy. You asked about the difference between Rice Dream and Rice Milk. Rice Dream manufactured by Hain Europe N.V. Ingredients; Water, Rice (14%), Cold Pressed Sunflower Oil, Calcium Carbonate, Calcium Phosphate, Sea Salt. The company offer a wider range in the US including organic which the UK version is not. Rice Drink Manufactured by Kallo UK Ingredients: Water, Organic Whole Italian Rice (17%), Organic cold pressed Sunflower Oil, Meditarranean Sea Salt. Neither product has any added sugar or sweeteners. The sweet taste comes from the rice itself. Both are packed in foil lined cardboard tetrapaks. Guest guest
" Both are packed in foil lined cardboard tetrapaks. " There's the *aluminum* thing again. Anybody know about aluminum-foil-lined food containers? Is there a plastic lining on the food side of that, and which is worse...? Aluminum always comes up in connection to Alzheimer's, and I already feel like I'm getting halfway senile. Guest guest
Hi, just to say in the UK you can get Organic Rice Dream, as well as plus calcium. I get mine in Holland and Barrett.
