I'm not sure where it registers on the diabetic safety scale, but in Ayurveda, it's recommended to rub it on the feet & cover with socks before bed to help with sleep. Many older people could use help in that department, too. I'm not older or diabetic, but it works for me. I would think that coconut oil or olive oil would work well, too.
