Hello,

 

Title of article: Sloppy Joe Recipe featuring " Vegetarian Sloppy

Joe, " mix by Fantastic World Foods

 

Note: Though the brand is called, " Vegetarian Sloppy Joe, " it's

actually vegan!

 

Try as you may, there's not always time in the day (poetry!) to make

meals from scratch! Luckily, these days we do have healthier options

to choose from at the store. However, your choices are still somewhat

limited at conventional grocery stores. Thus, the odds are higher

that you will find this product at a more health-oriented store.

 

This particular recipe uses " Vegetarian Sloppy Joe " made by Fantastic

World Foods. In terms of the ingredients, there's nothing on the list

that's unrecognizable except for one thing but it's in such a minute

amount, since it's the last ingredient, that it's okay.

 

It contains: soy protein (which you can overdo but every once in a

while is fine), dehydrated veggies, brown rice syrup, soy sauce,

spices, sea salt, miso powder, yeast extract, vinegar powder and

silicon dioxide, which is a food additive.

 

These sloppy joes are so good and taste just like the real thing!

Unless, of course, you're currently a red meat-eater, then you might

be able to tell. But if you've been a vegetarian for a while, your

taste buds will be more acclimated to traditional American fare

turned into veggie dishes and this is a really good one!

 

Makes 5 to 7 sloppy joes

 

Ingredients:

2 ½ tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

1 chopped medium-size tomato

2 diced garlic

½ of one medium white onion, diced

1 tablespoon agave nectar or honey

3 ounces of organic (if possible) tomato paste

spelt or whole wheat hamburger buns (hint: spelt is healthier and

tastes great, too!)

 

1. Saute the onion in 1 ½ tablespoons of olive oil, adding the garlic

for a couple of minutes at the end (when the onion begins to turn

transparent).

2. Prepare sloppy joe mix according to box instructions (which is

where you will use the tomato paste and one tablespoon of oil).

3. When the mix is ready, add the onions, garlic, tomato and agave

nectar.

4. Toast the hamburger buns (or not) and pile mixture on. Enjoy!
