Guest guest
If you try citronella, please do ensure that you do not throw an allergy to it! Try some on a small area of skin first - otherwise IF allergic then you will not be too happy: burns! Now, what we use to good effect is those Bounce tissues that one puts in with one's laundry. Clip onto your clothes. Keeps the mozzies and no-seeums away. No-seeums are horrible tiny biting flies, they get 'everywhere' and their bite is...nasty. Horses get badly bitten by the no-seeums and sets up sweet itch in the equines. You'll also need a head covering of some sort to keep em out of your hair. You can also tie the tissues around your wrist. These Bounce strips do help to a degree. Otherwise search out good horse sites for sweet itch control - see what is recommended and take it from there. Many recipes available. Just do be careful of the citronella though! Also, try Colloidal Silver. A small bottle, spray it on. In the meantime, here are some more thoughts on mozzies/no-seeums:- Prepare to be repelled!!!!Pr Use Bounce Fabric Softener Sheets...Best thing ever used in Louisiana...just wipe on & go..Great for Babies (tie into clothes, tuck around hat brim etc etc) Bob, a fisherman, takes one vitamin B-1 tablet a day April through October . He said it works. He was right. Hasn't had a mosquito bite in 33 years. Try it. Every one he has talked into trying it works on them. Vitimin B-1( Thiamine Hydrochloride 100 mg.) If you eat bananas, the mosquitos like you, - something about the banana oil as your body processes it. Stop eating bananas for the summer and the mosquitos will be much less interested. This is going to floor you, but one of the best insect repellents someone found (who is in the woods every day), is Vick's Vaporub. Plant marigolds around the yard, the flowers give off a smell that bugs do not like, so plant some in that garden also to help ward off bugs without using insecticides. " Tough guy " Marines who spend a great deal of time " camping out " say that the very best mosquito repellant you can use is Avon Skin-So-Soft bath oil mixed about half and half with alcohol. One of the best natural insect repellants that I've discovered is made from the clear real vanilla. This is the pure Vanilla that is sold in Mexico . It works great for mosquitoes and ticks, don't know about other insects. When all else fails - get a frog!! Fight West Nile..pass this along to all your friends in skeeter land!!! Molly (Yes, we have no-seeums over here. Dang pesky things.)
Guest guest
I used to sell Avon products, and I had several customers who swore by the original Skin So Soft bath oil sprayed lightly on the skin......both for humans and for horses. In fact, I had several customers who would purchase it by the case just to use on their horses. Might be worth a try. Lauri search out good horse > sites for sweet itch control - see what is recommended and take it from there. > Many recipes available. Guest guest
I had the same experience with my Avon customers and SSS oil. It really is effective on horses. Guest guest
My entire life, I've been mosquito bait. The ONE thing that's worked for me is neem oil mixed with water in a spray bottle. You can add a few drops of fragrant oils like clove & lavender & it's as good as cologne.
Guest guest
I agree about B-vitamins, I have been taking them since the 50's, and never bothered by them, I remember a time when I was with several friends fishing in a mosquito infested area, -I was the only one unaffected. -- In , " blclcc1 " <blclcc1 wrote: > > > I used to sell Avon products, and I had several customers who swore by the > original Skin So Soft bath oil sprayed lightly on the skin......both for > humans and for horses.
