Guest guest
Hey I read your email about the rash. My name is Alex, and im studying to become an RMT (registered massage thearapist) (CANADA) If the therapist you saw used too much presure, he could have had a bradikin and histamine realease as a response to the pressure he put upon the tiessues. This is just like when you bang a limb against something hard, or you get hit by a baseball, and swelling comes in. The swelling is mediated by the histamine hormone, and several otehr hormones, it is there as a protection, and a healing response to the trauma that just occured. It could aso be that this time he triggered an allergenic response in soemthing that he was using, or taht the technique performed triggered muscle memory, released vasts amounts of stress, and therefore as an outlet or physical manifestation, a rash occured. I dont know exactly how it happened, but massage should never bring about pain, so: If your therapy is causing you any disconfort, you should have the right to modify it, or stop it right away... besides there is alternatives to acessing deeper tissue muscles such as hydrotherapy, or pre-facial warming. Here we have to study 2200 hours (2-3 years), get a diploma, then take 2 exams to become certified...one writte, and then one pratical. I dont know how teh laws are with massage therapy down there, but it would be nice to know. If you have any more questions, I could sure try and help you, just email me directly.
