Guest guest
Hi everyone, Just wondering if anyone knows what my daughter can take for " Purple Feet " . She is otherwise really healthy, but her feet are almost black/purple and cold even in the summer? Her hands seem fine. I look forward to your suggestions. All the best Diana Moore http://www.bowentherapy.homestead.com http://www.cafepress.com/omsymbol
Guest guest
Discoloration is almost always tied into circulation issues. Diabetics, wheelchair bound and elderly especially deal with this. Raynauds is another possibility as its symptoms are similar with cold extremities. Have you had her tested to rule out other problems? Guest guest
Try Reflexology! The very best way to stimulate circulation to the feet, and all matter of underlying causes might be gently resolved or improved. In terms of herbs, I'd try Cayenne, or maybe Strauss Heart Drops. http://straussheartdrops.com Ien in the Kootenays http://freegreenliving.com (blog) http://wildhealing.net (Rainforest Herbs) http://wildwholefoods.net (AFA algae)
Guest guest
Dear Jennie, Thank you for mentioning Raynauds. I researched it and discovered that I may have had this for over 30 yrs. When I visited a county clinic in the 1970's due to no insurance, a foreign Dr. saw the discoloration on my legs, arms, feet and hands and he said that I had a disease. I said no one ever diagnosed that before, and his response was that in his country, this would be treated as a disease. I have had cold feet most of my life. I cannot sleep with cold feet. I just read that the body dilates blood vessels at night to warm the feet to help induce sleep. Darn! Where did I read that yesterday. Now reading this in our alternative digest, I am convinced I have Raynauds. I just emailed my only brother to see if he was diagnosed with it. I had heel spurs and plantar fascitis last year. I have had diver's cramps in my feet. I have cold feet and hands. I am developing spider veins all arounfd the ankles and lower calves. I have recently been having real problems with the toes stiffening up or sudden onset of stabbing pain in a single digit like someone stuck me with a pin. Also the knuckle joints crack and stiffen all the time when I try to stretch my fingers. I asked a cardiologist in 2005 to give me the ankle brachia test, and he didn't put it on the prescription because he didn't think of it. He was arrogant beyond measure. My feet are in warm fleece socks and are freezing since I got out of the down comforter. I have intuited buying a body roller at the Dollar Store - perfect small size for stimulating the soles of the feet. I've intuited taking calcium/magnesium/vit.D3 supplements, and bathing in magnesium rich water using Epsom salts. By researching this disease, this morning, I came across something significant. High blood pressure meds can exasperate this condition. YES...since I began taking meds....a generic brand of Diovan, the toes are becoming more and more stiff, very hard to bend, and extremely cold. Thank you for this information that provoked me to investigate. I am back at the local county clinic because of lack of insurance, again, but they are more proficient and comphrensive than the little store front Doctor's office that is overcrowded since their acceptance of medicaid patients. At this free county clinic, I was told as part of their routine treatment of older patients that I need to see: *OB GYN - Pap and HPV testing (mandatory for all women over 30) *Primary Care Dr. *Mammography clinic *Lab testing - told to take cholesterol meds and hypertensive meds for YEARS and I refused, but cannot lower the numbers on my own - and I got scared with a 150/90 BP and 305 total cholesterol even though I had a 56 HDL. I eat so healthy it would seem impossible to have such high #'s, but I am anxious and holding my breath and tightening up my muscles with tension all day without realizing it. *Colonoscopy (over 50) *DEXA - bone density clinic *Nutritionalist - will see her tomorrow *Social worker - to discuss worries When I feel depressed that I did not get that teaching job as a Health teacher (there are none available) I acknowledge the positive things to be grateful for like having access to these medical resources. I will share with my Primary Care Dr. who is from India that I would like a test to determine if I have Raynauds. She doesn't do one thing outside of her job duties and it is hard to understand her, at times, but what a gift she is. Maybe if we discuss an alternative HBP med, it will not aggrevate my stiff toes that can barely move anymore SINCE TAKING THE HBP MEDS. Unless I exercise the feet several times a day, they are frozen stiff. I even apply Vicks VapoRub on the soles (I don't know why I do this) and have had a free accupunture that I won in a dollar raffle, and 2 reflexology treatments at a holistic massage center. My feet felt wonderful, subtle, and warm, afterwards. I fell sound asleep durung the reflexology which meant it worked! Thank you for all your insights and wisdom. in loving kindness, Linda ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com

Guest guest
Thanks for your messages. She went to a doctor who laughed when she mentioned her feet and told her to stop reading medical things on the internet...great doctor..I would rather her treat it naturally if she can anyway..and I was thinking maybe cellsalts..but after reading some of these messages maybe we better get her checked out by a " real " doctor first. Thanks again. Diana http://www.cafepress.com/omsymbol
Guest guest
With that Doctors response, I'd be finding a different doctor. An Naturopathic Doctor can be of great benefit for holistic therapies.
