Guest guest
Does anyone know how to keep shower from forming mold and mildew. The only way I've tried to keep it clean was to throw some comet on it when its wet and let soak for awhile and then scrub it with a brush. I don't like the fumes because of my alleries but it does stay clean for about a week. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. AL. Guest guest
When we lived in the states, we used a more natural product called Bon Ami, chalk basically, as I recall, with no fumes at all. It also helps prevent the stuff from growing if you use a shower squeegee to scrape down the walls after your baths and showers, and vent the bathroom well during and after showers. Guest guest
Thank so much for responding and I do vent and squeegee the shower after every use but my son does not and refuses to do so. I will research the Bon Ami and see where I can buy here in TX. Thanks again and I'll let you know how it works out for me. --- Andrea Gauland <dreaquince wrote: > When we lived in the states, we used a more natural > product called > Bon Ami, chalk basically, as I recall, with no fumes > at all. Guest guest
I've heard that lemon juice is good for removing mold stains. Guest guest
Comet is so toxic because of the chlorine and then when you run the hot water into the shower, it becomes a steamy chlorinated toxin which doesn't do your lungs (or anything else!) any good. I use Thieves Cleaner from Young Living. I use a spray bottle and have a diluted solution which I spritz all around the shower when I finish. I never have mold or mildew and Thieves is all natural, derived from plants. Very safe. My cat plays in the tub -- no problems. www.youngliving.org/judithanne53 item #3743 Jude -- MY BLOG: http://jude-wellnessmatters.blogspot.com Find out more about me by clicking on the link below! http://jude.networkmarketingcentral.com To join alternative health discussion click this link... http://health.YLStars/join
Guest guest
After I get out of the shower every day I spray it down with white vinegar. My bathroom smells like a salad for an hour or so, but I haven't had to scrub my shower nearly as often!
Guest guest
I would definitely not use Comet or any other chemicals. They are harmful to inhale and irritate skin, as well as pollute the water supply. Baking soda works well with a scrub brush; you can add essential oils to disinfect. Hydrogen peroxide is a whitener. I second the shower squeegy to get rid of moisture which causes the mildew. Guest guest
I was wondering what brand (natural to use and could not find one) because Scrubbing Bubbles by scJohnson is good but still gives me a headache after I use it... which was today almost two hours ago. It says right on the can HAZARDOUS to HUMANS & DOMESTIC ANIMALS--so does anyone use something less threatening but equally less-abrasive and grime-cutting? thanks, Erica , " Miracle Yorkies " <miracleyorkies wrote: > > I spray my shower daily w/shower spray, it helps alot. > > Marsha and the Yorkies > http://www.miracleyorkies.com > >
Guest guest
Oh you mean the vintage Bon Ami polishing soap that started with the T.J ? company in 1886. I am pretty sure Target, Bed Bath & Beyond and even a GNC might sell this so I will look it up. I suppose I should have read any of the replies before asking my 'dumb' question . . . Guest guest
I buy the " Mean Green " shower spray. There are several brands. It is labelled as a daily shower spray. Most grocery stores and Lowes will carry it. Marsha and the Yorkies http://www.miracleyorkies.com
Guest guest
For those of you who choose to use the toxic products in your shower or bath, keep the doors open, use the vent fan and/or window and wear a mask. Guest guest
I use Sun and Earth brand all purpose cleaner, a dobie brand scrubbing pad and good old fashioned elbow grease. Works for me and is non-toxic. Smells good too. Guest guest
, " Erica " <affect_ive1 wrote: > > > > anyone use something less threatening but equally less-abrasive and > grime-cutting? > Erica, I don't know if you have a soap scum issue, but I have a dark grey bathtub and the soapscum buildup on the tub and shower doors was excessive. I was scrubbing twice a week, and working full time it disrupted my schedule. I was using Goo Gone on the tub and glass stovetop cleaner on the glass doors, that's how bad it was! Around a month ago I got rid of my bar soap and switched to using body wash. The soap scum haze has disappeared and not returned. Going to explore different body washes, but I'm using them from now on! Jean
Guest guest
Something with orange oil in it. Orange oil breaks down grime. White vinegar breaks down hard water deposits. We used that in the laundrymat to clean the machines of the soap and water scum. I love scrubbing bubbles, but it doesn't remove mold and mildew. Guest guest
That's a great idea! Does it keep the soap scum and mold away? Or did you not have much of a problem with that before? For what it's worth, I use shampoo that is really diluted to clean my shower. Does a nice job and doesn't cost much. I put a little bit of shampoo in an empty spray bottle, fill with warm water and shake it up. Cleans all of the bathroom nice, and, if you use a more natural shampoo, hopefully that is a little safer than the bulk of cleaners out there.
