Guest guest
Patti I have had pain in my hip that radiates, and most of it was due to weak abdominals and alot of bending. I finally started wearing a back brace and doing more walking to help strengthen it. It took a very long time and it is 100% better. But I still wear the back brace when I work with my dogs and when I do yard work. I also do standing excercises for my low back and abdominals. I turn on the music and do hip moving excercises, kind of like a belly dancer would do, but they have to be controlled and you have to feel the burn in your stomach for them to work. Strengthening my abdominals has made a world of difference, also the walking. Hold your tummy in when you walk for good excercise as well. Guest guest
I had pain in my hips until I quit " milk " because of it making me go high on my " blood sugars " . Then I found when I quit taking all that calcium - that my hip pain went away. What do I do instead of taking all that calcium -- I allow my cholesterol with the help of 15 minutes of sun a day to make vitamin D and set the calcium into my bones from the food I eat. And it is working!! thea noble --------- Forwarded message ---------- " tzane12 " <Teddyberen Thu, 18 Oct 2007 15:03:31 -0000 Pain in right hip Message-ID: <ff7sk3+7kpv > Hi. Guest guest
Hip pain that radiates down the leg is most often caused by pinched sciatic nerves and spinal misalignment. A chiropractic or osteopathic adjustment will often help aleviate this pain. Inflammation will often irritate an already irritated nerve or muscle.Stretching exercizes, ice and heat alternating, white willow bark, lavendar and other homeopathics can help to reduce these symptoms. Stress reduction, deep muscle relaxation and pain management via Biofeedback can also be of benefit. Guest guest
You would be much better off to permanently strengthen the correct muscles instead of wearing a back brace. This is fairly easy to do if you get the paperback book called Pain Free by Pete Egoscue and follow the correct stretches. I've seen some pretty remarkable things done using the simple stretches in that book. Things doctors say is impossible. Guest guest
Thank Renee Actually, yes, I am working on permanently correcting the muscles and I can tell a huge difference. My posture is so much better, but I needed the brace to " show " me what 'correct' was. I use it now for protection when bending and doing excessive work. I bend several times a day in my work, and overuse is often damaging. That is what put me in pain in the first place. Now I do daily excercises and my back has never been better. I feel like a kid again. So, yes, you are absolutely right, correction is necessary, thanks for pointing that out. Guest guest
Ahh, it's good to know you don't rely on the brace. :-) You are doing what is best for your body, and listening to its results. Good for you.
