Guest guest
I used to put a boric acid sugar mix in an old attractive wine bottle and left it where the ants would find it....that way you get to see the neat results of your labors. medusa >

Guest guest
Thank you for responding. I took an empty milk carton and poured half sugar and half boric acid and put it in the attic. The next day a large roach was dead in my backyard porch, so, I guess it works. I also put the same amount on empty lids and put them under my stove and fridge. I would like to know what I could use to distribute boric acid on my yard??? I have all sorts of pest back there, including ants lots of ants and spiders and crickets. You see, there is a ten acre tract of land behind my house and all sort of weeds grow there. The city comes and mows it every six months, so you can imagine how tall the weeds get. Anyways thanks for your suggestion. AL. Guest guest
I believe it was in an article a couple months back by Dr. Mercola. I use it in the house on small trails and around doorways. I have used diatomaceous (sp?) earth for years in my gardens. It's the stuff that the National Park Service uses in their camp grounds to control ants. It's animal and children friendly. We had a huge 4x4' red ant hill in our garden and the kids were getting bit too frequently, they were getting in the house, food and the beds etc. My youngest's dad works for the park service and he brought some of this home. It works wonders! We had even tried pouring ammonia on the hill to help...it did for a very short while. The D.E. was the best so far for large problems. Guest guest
Cinnamon works GREAT! You can put a line of powdered cinnamon down or use the cinnamon oil. I've used alot of tricks and the cinnamon works the best. ~*~ Namaste~*~ Stephanie
Guest guest
YOU DON'T NEED THAT MUCH BORIC ACID....TO USE THAT MUCH MAY REPEL THE CRITTERS YOU SEEK.....AFTER ALL WE DON'T KNOW WHAT THEIR NOSES MAY PICK UP......... I WOULD URGE YOU NOT TO USE THIS FORMULA TO DISPEL ON YOUR TENS ACRES...... YOU ARE THROWING INTO IMBALANCE THE CYCLE OF NATURE...I WOULD DOUBT YOU ARE ACTUALLY " USING " THE TEN ACRES SO LET THE MAJORITY OF NATURES' CRITTERS BE...AND ISOLATE ONLY THE AREA NEAR THE HOUSE WHERE YOU NEED TO DRAW THE LINE BETWEEN YOU AND THEM. POUR THE DRY BORIC SOLUTION ON HOT SPOTS OF ANT COLONIES OR USE THE BOTTLE TECHNIQUE. Guest guest
Thanks so much for your response. I did not know what diatomaceous earth was until now, I did a search on my online dictionary and it took me to a site that sells and explains what the stuff is used for. I think thats what I need for my yard, I am going to look into it for maybe next year. Thanks again..AL. --- Jenny Kernan <rainysnana wrote: > I believe it was in an article a couple months back > by > Dr. Mercola. Guest guest
There are two types of diatomaceous earth. There is a swimming pool filter which uses it. The swimming pool diatomaceous earth has the sharp corners taken off and WILL NOT WORK FOR ANTS. Be sure and get the garden variety diatomaceous earth which cannot be used in a swimming pool filter. thea --------- Forwarded message ---------- Jenny Kernan <rainysnana Thu, 18 Oct 2007 18:59:08 -0700 (PDT) Re: Re: Boric Acid??????????
