Guest guest
I have Hashimoto's that is supposedly kept in check with Synthroid. However, I notice as I get older that I am getting more and more tired, although levels are " normal " (antibodies remain high). Weight gain has become a problem with the years, also. Thank you for any suggestions-- this is a difficult time.
Guest guest
Armour could perhaps help, it is bioidentical...it's also made from pig thyroid. While I don't have Hashimoto's, I have been dx'ed with borderline hypothyroidism and have been placed on Armour and one drop of iodine a day and 2 drops of selenium a day. I also get acupuncture to help the liver metabolize the hormones. Perhaps these could help? Armour is available by prescription and is very cheap. Guest guest
You need to have the Free T3 & T4 checked. The free T3 should be near the top of the range, free T4 should be above mid - more toward 75% of the range. Also with Hashimoto your TSH should be below 1. This helps keep the antibodies low. Armour usually works better for Hashimoto than Synthroid. It's difficult to find a doctor to prescribe Armour. I would suggest calling doctor's office and asking if they are willing to prescribe Armour prior to making an appointment. Also, if you have a compounding pharmacy in your area, they can usually tell you doctors in the area that will prescribe Armour thyroid hormone. Recently someone posted a long post regarding thyroid diseases and alternative therapies. You need to read that. I have to take supplements to keep my metabolism in working order. Guest guest
In August I started with a chiro who specializes in balancing the body. Little by little we've been working on my fatique, restless leg and general feelings of not being well. My first test was the blood test to test for food reactions, and I discovered that most of what I ate wasn't right for my body, so I eliminated the culprits. Next was the bloodwork which included the t3 and t4 - I am hypothyroid and have been on a thyroid supplement for a week now. This is the first time in a long time that I can awake to 11 or so, before I barely made it to 9. I also wake up not groggy and ready to go. By medical standards I am not hypo - you need to find a specialist to test you and guide you. I can feel a difference in myself and encourage others to get checked out.
