Guest guest
Most of us here probably know, and have for a long time, that lipstick is VERY toxic. I'm so happy that this kind of information is finally getting to the masses! This article was on MSN today... http://tinyurl.com/2b8qyy Michelle http://www.HolisticMenopause.com
Guest guest
Recently, I wrote about my visit to an apiary farm in Bohemia, NY where I purchased a 4 pound block of pure beeswax so my daughter and I could learn how to make natural products for our skin. Without having all the recipes or having decided what we were going to create, I intuited what I needed to order, anyway: Searching on the Internet for wholesome, organic products, I ordered coconut oil, cocoa butter, lanolin oil and pure lanolin, almond oil, jojpba oil, honey, vitamin E, aloe vera juice, aloe vera gel, and a huge aloe vera leave (supermarket find) , and I found a bottle company in California that sold me (24) lip balm/gloss jars; (12) 2 ounce jars; (6) 4 ounce jars. Everything I ordered arrived right away in September, and cost about $100.00 excluding the beeswax which cost $18.00 for a 4 pound block of solar melted wax out in the fields. A friend brought over a book NOT knowing what we were doing. OMG It is called " Nature's Beauty Kit - Cosmetic Recipes You Can Make at Home " . Perfect!. Thank you, Universe. I had downloaded recipes on the Internet, but in this book there is a recipe I want to share with everyone. The first thing we were going to make was lip gloss, and then we heard about lead in lipstick brands such as Loreal and CoverGirl. I was so happy that we had everything we needed for this lip gloss recipe. I am going to color it with beet juice. You need: cocoa butter, beeswax, coconut oil, almond oil, aloe, honey, liquid lanolin, vitamin E oil. 1. Melt 1 teaspoon grated cocoa butter, 1/4 teaspoon grated beeswax, 1/2 teaspoon coconut oil, and 1/2 teaspoon almond oil in a glass beaker in the microwave, stirring at 10 second intervals. 2. Quickly whisk in 1/4 teaspoon honey, 1/4 teaspoon aloe, and a few drops of liquid lanolin, and a few drops of vitamin E oil. 3. Pour into a small container (a contact lens case works well). Stir once more before it solidifies. Does anyone else know what other natural ingredients would add pure color to the lip gloss? in loving kindness, Linda ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
Guest guest
You can add some essential oils with stevia, for flavor. I use orange and tangerine. Not too much. The taste is subtle but good. Dr. Maria Moratto Prescription For Bliss The Law of Attraction Alternative rx4bliss Cheia Vida: healthy, exotic and delicious. Why, it had to be Brazilian! http://aliveworldwide.com/13924
Guest guest
If you live here in NY you can use SKS Bottles or Burches? Bottle companies, whom are close and sell all kinds of containers! You can use food flavorings in your lip balms and Frontier Fooc Coop/ Frontier Herbs carries or carried organic flavoring. For colorant you can use cosmetic grade Mica's, or liquid colorant (non water base). You can even Infuse your oils with certain plants to get certian nurturing properties into your balms. Guest guest
One other thing becarefull because some people may have allergies to Lanolin its related to wool; so if anyone has a wool allergy they MAY have allergy to Lanolin. Lanolin though I trully great stuff, even for breast feeding moms. Gabby
Guest guest
Another thing about colorant: You can take ALkanet root powder OR Beet root powder, place in oil (any liquid type oil your using in recipe or Olive oil) in a sealed tight container (glass), and let set for 24hr. up to couple weeks. The color becomes in corrperated into the oil! Strain oil with fine strainer, and use where it called for like Almond or Olive oil. Same amounts. I have quite a few girls, so I can test it on them when I make it because they are lip gloss queens! Thanks so much for the recipe!
