rheumatoid arthritis?

My doctor says I have RA but I am worried that it just might be an

excuse to sell me painkillers. I have been taking oxy for three years

now. I've stopped for a few weeks at a time but eventually the pain

becomes so severe I start again.

My main symptoms are when I wake up, the first few steps feel like I'm

walking on broken glass. After an hour or so it's not as bad. I get bad

pain in my elbows, shoulders, back, and knees. Sometimes there will be

a sensitive spot on a joint where any touch causes pain. When I try

doing work with my hands they get swollen and painful. Sometimes the

pain in my arms makes it impossible to use one or the other.

I can't take the RA medicines because of liver problems so they just

give me pain pills.

Any suggestions?

Hello Richmond, The symptoms that you have mentioned very much indicates that

you could be having RA as my sister also had RA which eventually got her knee

deformed at an early age of 27. Anyways, coming back to your case, am no doctor,

but with my experiance of what we had went thru for my sister, she also used to

complaint of the same thing as you do. The morning part is morning stifness and

in an hours time you get into a position where you can move a bit. The swelling

can be because of Inflammation of joints. Going to an RA doctor will surely help

you from further pain and any kind of deformities. Do take care of your self and

keep your excercise. I thing start with a god physiotherapist, they can work

wonders if they are good. Take Care and let us know whats going on with you

Hi M. Richmond,

Sorry I just found your massage, my son had suffered for 2 years with Juvenile

Rheumatoid arthritis, it started when he was around 6 years old. We hop from

hospital to hospital to find good doctor, JRA is a chronic problem, so I could

understand ist not easy to cure it besides the doctors are making sure it is JRA

before they will use Steroids to control fever which sometime reaches to 41%

Celcius, but my wife could not wait she brought my son to Japan for medication,

my son stayed there for 4months in the hospital, it was a crucial time for my

son; that my wife thought he will not make it in few occassions, specially when

his condition became complicated. The only and the last resort in medication is

the steroids, because of steroids he was ok for a while, the fever and pain

resumed after few months. afterwhich my wife brought my son to Korea in a

hospital which practices eastern and western medicine, he recovered but the

problem is the medicine which is combination of

40 herbs, the taste is so bitter that my son stopped taking it. I was in a

hopeless situation. I just suddenly remembered a homeopathic doctor who's

interview appeared in a local newpaper. we visited him hoping he could help our

son. after few visits my son finally got cured, now he is very healthy and

could go to school just like any other normal kid. Hope this could help. Sorry

for the long story.
