Guest guest
Hello You asked about certain drinks that promote energy. Before I begin this is quite a long article but stic with it and you will benefit from knowing this information and then you can even sahre it with others. There has been an important discovery in the field of nutririon that will be useful for you to be aware of when making any drink. I am referring to smoothies here as juices normally consist of, well... juice. To begin with tt's important for you to know what your bodies main source of energy is; that is whether you burn fat protein or carbs as your primary fuel source. Knowing this you can prepare a drink that is unique to your bodies matabolism and predominant fuel type. What you do is begin your day with some sweet fruit perhaps a couple of plums blended with a nectarine. You can just blend these as they are or with some water. If after an hour or two you feel really hungry and your blood sugar is low then you can be sure that your primary source of fuel is either protein or fat. You then do the same the next day but this time blend your fruit with some hemp protein or goji berries. I eat alot of raw food so tend to go for things like spirulina, bee pollen hemp and goji as proteing sources which are all great. Raw organic eggs are supposed to be great too! If after one or two hours you still feel hungry and your blood sugar is uneven then you can be goo to know that your primary fuel source is fat. Most people burn fat and protein as their primary fuel sources. Some people are a mix. You would then do the same again but this time mix your sweet fruit with some fat like avaocados or macadamia nuts perhaps with hemp oil or flax oil. If after drinking this you find yourself still going strong several hours later you can be good to know that your primary fuel source is fat. Many people think fat is bad. Not so. Cooked fats and hydrogenated fats are the ones to be avoided. If you burn fat as your primary fuel source as I do you will be surprised by how much you can consume. When you know what your primary fuel source is you then play about with it and mix ingredients to get the right balance for you. I drink lots of raw chocolate smoothies; these are anti oxidant rich and are incredibly good! You can begin with simple ingredients and then expand your choice as you become acquainted with whats on offer and more importantly what works for you. You can buy raw cacoa at many of the raw food websites; it's good to get the nibs or beans, the butter and the powder. You can use water or coconut milk/water as your base and some fresh fruit or berries to enhance the taste. You can even use herbs in your smoothie to give you extra sustenance. All of this information I've learned through raw food expert David Wolfe. I recommend you watch him on you tube; he goes into detail the ins and outs of raw cacao smoothies which I feel are the future of nutrition. I hope this was of benefit to you and would appreciate your feedback. Guest guest
My wife and I have found abundant energy during and after a 10 day fast, either the vegetable juice fast or the lemonade diet does work very well. I prefer the vegetable and my wife prefers the lemonade. After a ten day fast, which we do 3 or 4 times per year, I require half the amount of sleep. And have energy to bounce off walls. Guest guest
I do a smoothie from Ann Louise Gittlemans " Fat Flushers " book, I've tweaked it some. This follows the 40-30-30 plan. 40% calories are low glycemic carbs, 30% good fats, 30% lean protien. Whey protien is better and more easily digested that soy. Designer American whey is tasty and has least amounts of additives and artifical ingredients. Maltodextrim is known to cause increase in appetite - many stevia powders have maltodextrim as a filler 2 Scoops unsweetened or flavored Whey protien powder (usually 20 gr protein) 1 cup unsweetened fruit juice such as cranberry or white grape (Fresh homemade cranberry is best - recipe below) 1 cup of unsweetened plain yogurt (sweetened and flavored adds more carbs) 1 whole banana 1 cup frozen or fresh fruit of choice (I like berries or peaches) 1 pkt of stevia plus 1 TBS flax seed oil 1 TBS ground flax seed or wheat germ Mix in blender add ice if desired Makes 1 blender jar of smoothie Fresh Homemade Natural Cranberry Juice: 1 bag fresh cranberries washed and cleaned 4 cups water Mix together in a sauce pan and simmer until skin pop. Let cook, drain water into a jar or juice pitcher. You will probably want to strain the juice as the seeds are often heavy in the water. To sweeten add 1 to 2 packets of Stevia Plus if desired. Guest guest
Do you have the recipe for the veggie fast? I'd be interested in taking a look at it. Also, did this fast affect your ability to workout or did were you able to maintain the same level of physical activity? Thx, Marty David McCarty <chiefmc wrote: My wife and I have found abundant energy during and after a 10 day fast, either the vegetable juice fast or the lemonade diet does work very well. Guest guest
I'd also be interested in the recipe. I live and work on a farm, and need lots of energy to get going in the mornings, and I can't slack off now that it's milking season again. I've never tried a fast because I'm worried about passing out while working. Andrea in New Zealand On 26/09/2007, at 10:57 AM, Martin Sichel wrote: > Do you have the recipe for the veggie fast? Guest guest
OK since a few people are interested in this fast, I will provide what I think you need to know. My guide is a book titled, There is A Cure For Arthritis, by, Paavo O. Airola, N.D. I tried his program, and I did get rid of the dreadful and constant pain. I can tell you from experience that the first few days is hell, headaches, stomach aches, and muscular pain. However on about the 3rd day your body goes into autolysis and begins to eat up all the bad cells, and poisons in your body. If it don't belong there it is consumed. days 4,5,6,7,8 and really pretty good, you only get about one hunger pang a day, and you will lose good amounts of weight. (read the book) you can buy it used from amazon.com for 3 or 4 bucks, or it probably is in your favorite health food store. So the plan is like this 1. cup of diet tea 2. warm water enema, I usually skip this, but do it when I feel like it. 3. 2 quarts of water, 2 cups potatoes, 2 cups celery, and 2 cups of your favorite vegetable, I like to add garlic and cayenne pepper, after it boils for 20 or30 minutes potatoes soft) strain the liquid away from the vegetables. Throw vegetables away or freeze for soup someday. 4. You can drink this 2 or 3 times per day. 5. You can drink diluted fruit juice if you feel you need it. (you may need it first few days. 6. I am over 64 years, and I go to the gym 3 times per week, I also go to karate 2 times per week, if I feel light headed or weak towards the end I train with less intensity. 7. You probably will require a power nap each day towards the end. 8. I don't know what all the plan will cure, but I know it is good for arthritis, and it is a great detox plan. 9. I suggest you journal each day, I know you will want to do it again, and the notes are a good laugh latter on. 10. CAUTION, last year I did faint and did fall down, but it was my own damn fault, Sunday I ran 6 miles, Monday I did a double exercise class, well on and on, but you get the point???? Now if you are sitting in a tractor all day plowing fields, I don't know why you could not fast Good Luck Catch up on fall's hot new shows on TV. Watch previews, get listings, and more!
