Guest guest
Hiya! I live in an apartment building and this the second time in this year that an infestation of bed bugs have invaded some of the suites on my floor. Not mine thank the Gods!. But they are moving closer to mine and I'm very concerned. How do I prevent or solve this invasion with no chemicals? Thanks Sherry
Guest guest
Put mint tea bags at the perimeters of your apartment. Bugs hate mint. They won't pass the lines. If you do get them use HOT water to wash everyhting. Sherry <sronan53 wrote: Hiya! Guest guest
Hi Sherry, I am not 100% sure but I think that diatomaceous earth would work for killing and keeping bedbugs away. It is safe for animals, birds, fish etc, you could even eat it and it would not harm you but it is like razors to bugs. It cuts them as they move on it. You could probably sprinkle it on your furniture, carpets, wherever you fear the bugs may invade. > I'm very concerned. Guest guest
Peppermint is great for crawling bugs, but flying insects need to be able to smell from the air. My suggestion is lemon balm or basil plants. They are very aromatic. Of course they will fly outside the radius of the smell so they need to be placed where needed. Hope this is more helpful. Guest guest
Use lavender oil instead for mosquitos. Put the oil in containers with standing water and put in a diffusor to help alieviate the problem. Guest guest
use citronella for mosi, garlic too-for bed bugs-leave mattress out in strong sun for a few days-( FULL SUN) and give a light spray with tea tree oil when u bring it in, wash all linen, and used clothing, hair , towels etc and vacum thoroughly-if you are a messy person like me then spring clean--------i think the pharmacy has a spray and lotion for bed bugs but good old sunshine and heat usually knock them off-all the rest is for prevention of reinfestation. Guest guest
Are you SURE that " Diatomaceous Earth " will KILL all Bed Bugs AND their eggs? It's a VERY Serious problem which I just went through, and it's NOT fun! I live in a Low Income Apartment, and the people here aren't very aware of things around them. A State inspector practically had to interrogate my neighbors to find out that 5 apartments had bed bugs. I got a " Poison Free " Product called Diatect Indoor Insect Killer that killed all my bed bugs quite well. You have to treat again 14-18 days afterwards, because NOTHING kills the Eggs, and they have a gestation period where they hatch in that amount of time! Diatect also has an " Organic " Spray which they say is very safe to use on Garden Plants. If you don't get rid of an infested Box Spring and/ or Mattress, expect the bed bugs to return, also! I have my Box Spring in a plastic " Bed Bag " right now. But it's going heave Ho soon into the garbage! Good luck to the unlucky person experiencing my same fate! Oh, it has Nothing to do with being dirty (Which I'm not). They get carried in from another place. Mine came from some other person who either slept some place with them, or brought an infected mattress in here. Good Luck, Steve
Guest guest
Mosquitoes hate basil. They also stay away from the sheets that are used in the dryer to soften clothes. You could put some basil in a bottle with witch hazel and steep for a week or two, then use as a spray. You will have to strain the leaves out of the witch hazel when strong enough.
