Guest guest
Yes, I would absolutely get in to see an eye doctor I am very nearsighted and had a detached retina a few years ago. Had I waited to go in I could have very well lost my sight in that eye. Get it checked out Teresa
Guest guest
I want to thank everyone for the advice and concern over this matter - this is really one of the best I've ever known! 8 ) I have been to the optometrist yesterday (it's Tuesday today in New Zealand), and he spent over an hour doing all sorts of fun (not!) diagnostic tests and exams of the retinas of both eyes. He then made an appointment for me with a retinal/macular specialist, whom I see early next week (she's out of town till then, and the optometrist really thinks she is the best I can see, so I will wait unless my vision changes for the worse; on the Amsler Grid Test, I saw lots of wavy lines with my left eye, but no actual spots where nothing could be seen, so I need to watch for blank/grey spots if they crop up). Again, thanks to everyone!! One website I found said that, for people who have retinal detachment and/or macular degeneration in their family history, they can take zinc, magnesium, vitamin C to help prevent or lower their chances of developing it. And the condition can actually have something to do with a dysfunctional pituitary (which I actually do have, as well as myopia that puts me at risk for developing retinal detachment). All the best, Andrea New Zealand On 10/09/2007, at 9:08 AM, <tabbott wrote: > Yes, I would absolutely get in to see an eye doctor > > I am very nearsighted and had a detached retina a few years ago. > Had I waited to go in I could have very well lost my sight in that > eye. > > Get it checked out > > Teresa > >
