Guest guest
Hello everyone! I'm Allison... i'm not a full vegan, but I am vegetarian and don't drink milk or eat eggs,so for the purposes of medicine i say i'm vegan.. I have irritable bowel syndrome. Since i dropped meat, i have been generally better- and my reflux is completely gone. BUT- i seem to be having problenms with something i'm eating... which made me sick a week or two ago, and has made me sick again today... basically, TERRIBLE cramps, diarhoea, and me feeling pretty crappy for the rest of the day... i have come to this group with these problems before, but i figure- my diet's different now, and besides, there may be people who didn't see previous posts... I have a suspicion it's probably beans doing it- only since there are so many types of beans and lentils- and also tofu, soymilk, soy sauce, tempeh etcetc, it could take me a while to figure out exactly what it is. Has anyone got any tips or advice they can offer that might help me identify what it is, find a doctor who CAN identify what it is, or any suggestions to what i can do? Also- could those pains be simply caused by too much fibre or is it more likely that it is a food i'm eating? Thankyou in advance (again) for all your help. Guest guest
I used to have IBS, some of the symptoms sound the same. I was told to eat more fiber until I had fiber coming out of my ears. The problem got worse. Finally I had to simply remove everthing. Each week I was allowed to add one new food until I found out what was causing the problems. It was many. In my case I could not eat any beans, except mung bean sprouts and soy. I can not eat popcorn and can not have ANY wheat products at all. Many times wheat and dairy is the problem but it could be anything. Luggage? GPS? Comic books? Check out fitting gifts for grads at Search. Guest guest
Hello Allison, Some people have a sensitivity to soy, so you might want to cut down the amount to 25-30 grams per day...varying where you get it from....soy milk, yogurt, etc. Also to cut down on the amount of gas from the beans, soak them for a few hours before use. I hope this helps Cathy born_of_beltane <mysteriousdarkness wrote: Hello everyone! Take a scrutinous look at what you have eaten for the past 48 hours, counting backward from the time of first cramps/diarrhea. There should be an item in there that you haven’t eaten for the week or two (ie since the last time this happened). It could be a spoiled food, a food you have an allergy/intolerance for, etc. Find what is different and try eliminating it. If it cures it, you’ve found the source. If not, try reintroducing it and see what happens. You need to test food one at a time to ensure you’re really testing only that one variable. Guest guest
Hiya Allison! My name is Sherry and I also have IBS/IBD and Crohns so I can really sympathasive with you symptoms. Good for you ..being aware of your diet is only one step in being pro active in your own health. For me stress is the number 1 contributer to the syptoms. I found a great accupunturist who also introduced me to EFT ( emotional freedom techneqic ) and that is very empowering. The internet is a great resource and as we both know there is nothing prodicatable about these conditions. Hope I helped. namaste sherry p.s. sorry for the spelling mistakes...wish had spell check..lol , " born_of_beltane " <mysteriousdarkness wrote: > > Hello everyone! Guest guest
Many times IBS can be changed when you destress the body, change the diet, add more fibre, less processed foods, dairy and change the oils. Coconut oil is supposed to do wonders for IBS. Jenny Kernan --- Dinah Kroh <waywardgypsymoon wrote: > I used to have IBS, some of the symptoms sound the > same. Guest guest
what's emotional freedom technique? (i simply can't deal with bad stress- good stress maybe, when i know i can do the task and its only a matter of time i can handle. i almost like that stress. but bad stress, i get really sick for weeks on end and suffer headaches and am always tired (though that may also be diet related)... so of course am interested to know how you dealt with your stress. , " Sherry " <sronan53 wrote: > > > Hiya Allison! > My name is Sherry and I also have IBS/IBD and Crohns so I can really > sympathasive with you symptoms. Guest guest
Make a list of every-thing you eat and drink in a small diary-----then note in red when you have the cramps-- slowly eliminate the foods -one by one from your diet that you feel are causing the cramps then if not sure --------eat what you think is doing it and if no cramps - try another food untill you can work it out---lentils and beans can give you or some people bad gas-so cramps occur--irritible bowel syndrome is touch and go as it allways seems to upset the system-don't eat anything hot or spicey untill u have it under controll-drink plenty of waterl slippery elm may help but not sure born_of_beltane <mysteriousdarkness wrote: Hello everyone! Guest guest
Hello Allison .Colon Hydrotherapy may be something to consider .It is a pracice which brought healing to our ancestors and remains to be a very effective way of cleansing the internal system of any toxic irritants that have not been eliminated during the process of digestion .I will avoid going into detail about the procedure, perhaps you are already well informed .If however you would like for me to explain a little more than please e-mail me a response and I will ..Last year my system of digestion and elimination was very much out of balance ..I went to the hospital 3 times and had 2 cat scans .The physicians had their advise and their chemical prescriptions, which I accepted and followed; however I found no relief. It was when I took responsibility for present condition and decided to be my own healing practitioner that I finally found relief .Within one month of my doing so balance was restored to my complete internal system and I have experienced no furthur complications .My treatment was a complete change in the quaility and quantity of the nourishment I was feeding my body, brief periods of fasting, and a series of colon hydrotherapy treatments. Certain Yoga postures proved to be beneficial as well .I hope this is helpful to you ...I hope you find relief from your present state of discomfort..Be well White Rabbit <whiterabbit wrote: You wrote: Hello everyone! Guest guest
Hi, I also suffered from the symptoms of IBS, Crohns, etc.. nothing was diagnosed by my PCP. I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy.. which showed some inflamation of the stomach which they felt was Gastritis. I went online to find out exactly what all these 'diseases " were about and came to the conclusion that they all had the same symptoms and I felt depending on who you spoke to is what you were diagnosed with. I started doing more research and found that none of the prescribed meds even worked. I was at my wits end at this point. Having lost 55lbs in less than 4 months because nothing stayed. I would eat or drink..and about a half hour later..was running to the bathroom... inconvienent to say the least..and terribly embarrassing! So I wouldn't eat until night time..and then only rice .. I was actually getting scared.... at any other point in my life I would have loved the weight loss..but not at the expense of my health..it was starting to worry me..thinking.. how am I ever going to be able to eat or drink again! My last resort..which I wish was my first now that I'm more informed, was an acupuncturist.. He diagnosed me with " Damp/Heat " a chinese theory diagnosis..but made perfect sense when he explained it. I won't go into detail about that here....but suffice to say that man is a healer! It took me 6 months going three times a week.. he gave me herbs to take to strenghten my Spleen/Stomach/Kidneys.. after the 6 months I was able to eat and drink ANYTHING..dairy, eggs..wheat products.. ANYTHING. That was over two years ago..and I'm still fine... I only go when I need to now..and I only take an chinese combination of herbs called Shenling Biazhu... ... it helps to strengthen the spleen.. there's reasons for doing that with respect to the stomach ailments..but again.too much info for this email.. I just wanted to let you all know that there is a way out from under these symptoms.. I wish you all good luck.... there is a down side to feeling better though.. I gained back all the weight I lost!! LOL but I'd rather have it back..then being unhealthy! I hope you'll look into what I've experienced..I'd be interested to know if it works for you.. Prayers for speedy resolve of your ailments. Peace, Peggy Choose the right car based on your needs. Check out Autos new Car Finder tool. Guest guest
Hi Allison, I've had IBS in the past and found that diet alone is not enough to cure the symptoms because IBS is a partially psychosomatic problem. I read Deepak Chopra's book " Perfect Digestion " which had many ideas for better digestion based on each individual's body type. Some of the vegetables might not be right for your body type.
