Small Ways to Boost Your Metabolism

If you're like me and only have to look at a slice of cheescake to put

on weight, try some of these ways to rev up your metabolism.

Build Muscle! Muscle helps to keep your metabolism up.

Regular Activity - Imperative to keeping your metabolism revved up. Try

walking the dog for longer, taking the bike instead of the car,

vigorously clean house, dig in the garden or go dancing.

Don't skip meals. This will just deny your body of essential vitamins and

nutrients needed for optimum health and regulate down your metabolism.

Instead, try eating 5 smaller meals each day. Start your day with a

substantial meal and taper them off as the day goes on, making dinner

the smallest meal of the day.

Use Spices - Spices, such as curry powder, cayenne peppers and chili

powder, can make food more appealing and can boost your metabolism

slightly.

Drink plenty of water! Dehydration can hinder your metabolism. Water is

the most essential nutrient in the body. The liver will weigh on water

retention instead of burning fat if deprived of water. You will also

feel tired if dehydrated and therefore less inclined to exercise.

Protein - Try to make sure that 10-35% of your daily calories come from

protein.

Calcium helps to rev up your metabolism, so try and include 3 servings

of low fat dairy and 1200mg of calcium daily.
