Guest guest
Have you discussed this new vaccination that Doctors are recommending for young girls as young as 9 to prevent infection from 4 strains of human papilloma virus which is resonsible for 70% of all cervical cancers? I took my daughter back to the Pediatrician one more time to check the area where the lump was, and there is nothing there nor does it show on the ultrasound. The Doctor noticed I had signed a waiver against it when there last month because the focus was on the lump we all had felt - not vaccines. I teach this in Health and present facts unpersuasively. Now it is time to make decisions for my own 15 1/2 year old. In my heart I do not want her to have these 3 vaccines. In front of the Doctor she blurted out, " My Health teacher in school last year told us about this vaccine and I want it " . I substitute taught in her school last year, and she never shared her Health notes, topics, or projects with me. I was distressed over this. Yet, when she has sleep overs we talk about Health and even watch some of my educational videos together regarding human sexuality, etc. I know her Health teacher and did not approve of her dumping 20 colored condoms on the desk on the second day of school. It is not easy raising a teenage girl today. We have become a society that accepts youthful sexual permissiveness. I see a fast paced, self gratifying generation. In my daughter's school, they dump condoms on the desk, TELL them to get vaccinated because HPV can be spread past the genital areas next to the place covered by a condom - such as the inner thighs and scrotum. I see the curriculum being slanted toward accomodating peer pressure that views sex as a recreational sport. Whatever happened to internalized morals, and abstainence? Now I must do the job of Mothering my child (and being a Health teacher , too) and use all my knowledge and beliefs that collide with my daughter's 24 year old unmarried Health teacher's viewpoints. As I left the Pediatrician's office this morning, I told her no decisions would be made until I researched CAM and then sat down to have a heart to heart talk with my child. Any knowlwdge out there on this topic? In appreciation, and in loving kindness, Linda
Guest guest
Linda, I feel for you! My daughter is 14, and I wrestled with the same question. In this upcoming school year, the public schools will be sending home information with the kids about it, and I'm certain it will make it sound like a great idea. I know in my heart that this vaccine is a bad idea. But I couldn't stomach the thought of " What if " my daughter was the one to get cervical cancer because I made this decision. Here was the deciding factor for me. The HPV vaccines were not approved based on their effectiveness in preventing cancer. Surprised? Read this article: http://www.cancermonthly.com/iNP/view.asp?ID=169 Here is a snippet: " How effective is Gardasil in decreasing the incidence of cervical cancer? 100%? 50%? No one really knows because this question has not yet been answered. As of today, the Gardasil vaccine has never been proven to decrease the actual incidence of cervical cancer. In the studies that led to the vaccine's approval, the incidence of cervical cancer was not measured. Instead CIN (cervical intraepithelial neoplasia) 2/3 and AIS (adenocarcinoma in situ) were used as the surrogate markers for prevention of cervical cancer because according to the vaccine's insert " CIN 2/3 and AIS are the immediate and necessary precursors of squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma of the cervix, respectively. " While this is true it is also true that CIN 2/3 and AIS usually do not lead to cancer. For example, according to published data, CIN2 only leads to invasive carcinoma 5% of the time and CIN3 only leads to invasive carcinoma 12% of the time. " Hope this helps point you in a direction you feel comfortable with. -- Shana Clagg Hormone Health Nature's Way http://health.HormoneHealthNW/ Achieve Inner Fusion http://www.kingoffruits.com On 7/24/07, Linda <LindyBowers wrote: > > Have you discussed this new vaccination that Doctors are recommending > for young girls as young as 9 to prevent infection from 4 strains of > human papilloma virus which is resonsible for 70% of all cervical > cancers? > > I took my daughter back to the Pediatrician one more time to check > the area where the lump was, and there is nothing there nor does it > show on the ultrasound.
