Guest guest
Hello everyone! My name is Anne. I have been a lurker for sometime now and have finally got the courage to ask for help. I am 51 years old and feel like crap. I fell older than I should and am tired of it. I know most of it is nutritional problems and lack of exercise. I contacted some professionals in my area but I can not afford it. My problems are too many to list here but if any knowledgeable people can help please email me off group. A HUGE " Thank You " ahead of time. This group has been great. I will now go back to lurkdom. anne_witch
Guest guest
Hi Anne and welcome! Please don't go back into lurkdom; it's pretty nice out here! :-) I'm glad you got the courage to ask for help - definitely a step in the right direction. Now it's time for another and then another. The biggest hurdle is being determined to feel great and maybe even realizing that you deserve to feel great. I am 52 years old and feel fantastic. To get there, though, I had to take control of my health and not feel sorry for myself in doing all that I do to stay healthy. I love what I do now, actually. I don't feel I'm missing anything. I am hypothyroid, have Lyme Disease, a form of anemia, a surgically- repaired ankle and a few other more minor issues. I hate to even type that because it doesn't define me anymore. To stay healthy, I know I must exercise, and I mostly do exercise that I enjoy. I also eat right the majority of the time. I love healthy foods, but it's nice once in a while to have something not so healthy. But I must take care of myself with exercise, healthy foods, a few supplements, stress relief, etc. to stay where I am. It's so worth it, and it will be for you, too. Just get started on the road with one thing. One change can be easy, then the next might be even easier once you get the ball rolling. If you have specific questions about what to eat or what exercise or whatever applies to you, feel free to ask. I could e-mail this privately, but there is so much good help here plus then lots of people benefit. Take care; you soon will be 52 and feeling awesome! I can provide you, or anybody, with a free copy of 'Allergies Home Diagnosis Therapy', just email me and ask, then follow all the advice therein. Regards, Don Moody. nasalb0ne. Guest guest
Hi Anne, We're the same age. Hey, menopause can really rock your world. I've always been totally healthy, active and borderline fanatical about diet and nutrition. Despite that, I can totally relate to how you're feeling. It's important to remember that the entire endocrine system is impacted by " the change " . That means the adrenals, thyroid, pancreas (blood sugar issues)and more. Small steps can make a huge difference and keep overwhelm at bay. Simply eliminating sugar, sodas, watching your PH, drinking more water and doing some light stretching are good initial steps to take. You can do it! Guest guest
Hi, Anne! Dede here! All of these things could be contributing to the way you feel. There's also a possibility of food sensitivity -- I recently discovered that while I don't have an allergy to peanut butter, it does make me feel really tired, worn out when I eat it. I discovered that by eliminating it from my diet. It was one of those things that I pretty much ate a little of every day. (they don't test for food sensitivies). But definitely follow through on the thyroid site -- they've helped me a lot! Guest guest
Hi Anne and Dede, Definitely go to the thyroid site - what a helpful site chock full of information and links. I spent the afternoon reading from the site and found it to be right on target. I also agree that the exercise is so important. I started exercising last year and did it regularly until I hurt my foot and got off track - after 5 months the foot is better but I feel much worse. So, it's back to the gym to get my body moving again. That was one of the single best things I've done for myself. I also agree with the food sensitivities - peanuts are difficult for me, as well. It helps to just steer clear of them, although I could eat them endlessly. My best to all of you, Ruth Ann edgetexlady <rbright wrote: Hi, Anne! Dede here! Guest guest
I want to echo what Dede said. I found out I am allergic to eggs and soy. Not a life threatening allergy but enough that it makes me feel drained and fatigued. I've resisted going without, but then I finally tested it out, and there is a big difference in my energy when I stay free of both. I miss those items, but it's not worth it to eat them and feel like I'm moving through mud. Definitely also pursue thyroid testing. That can make a huge difference, too. Good luck to you Anne; bit by bit, you'll get a handle on this, Cindy Cindy Kirchhoff, life coach http://livinginrhyme.com Reclaim your power and your passion , " edgetexlady " <rbright wrote: > > Hi, Anne! Guest guest
Hey, Cindy! I have a very strong feeling that I'm also sensitive to eggs and soy. Of course, I love them .... but I note I feel better on the mornings I DON'T eat eggs. Dede , " kiaradaze " <ckirchhoff wrote: > > I want to echo what Dede said. Guest guest
Maybe you can skip the expensive testing, then, Dede. If you know you feel better when you don't have eggs, that seems like a straight forward enough answer to me! I find, if I listen to my body, it's a much better indicator than anything else. And doesn't cost an arm and a leg nor do I have to sit in a doctor's office reading magazines from a hundred years ago. :-) Take care, Cindy Cindy Kirchhoff, life coach http://livinginrhyme.com Reclaim your power and your passion - and your health! , " edgetexlady " <rbright wrote: > > Hey, Cindy! Guest guest
I have no intention of going through testing. Besides, they don't test for food sensitivities -- only allergies ... the kind where you have horrible reactions to things (like I do to pineapple - gives me really awful migraines). Guest guest
I'm not sure what my testing was called, but it was for food sensitivities, not life-threatening allergies. I can eat an egg or two right now and not have anything serious happen. I just won't feel my best the rest of the day - I'll be really fatigued and feel sort of sick. Gives me reason enough to avoid them! I feel so much better without. Anymore, I feel like whatever I have to do is just fine. Nothing is important as that I feel great. I didn't know pineapple could be such a problem! It's good you found that out, though.
