The reality is starkly different. According to a recently completed survey by the Agricultural Research Service's Food Surveys Research Group in Beltsville, Maryland, 93 % of Americans don't get enough vitamin E from their diet, and more than half (56 %) are deficient in magnesium, while roughly one third (31 %) are not getting even the bare minimum of vitamin C. No wonder heart disease kills so many, one might add. All those deficient nutrients are essential for good heart function.
