Proposed mental health legislation in the UK is feared to

extend forced psychiatric drug treatment - that is treatment

against the patient's will - to as many as 13.000 Britons over

the next fifteen years, according to groups opposing the

measure. The proposed law will make it too easy to detain

people, even if they have relatively light mental problems, BBC

reports in this article. Meanwhile, prescriptions of

methylphenidate, also known as Ritalin, have increased 180-fold

since 1991, from 2000 to more than 350.000 prescriptions, as

reported by The Telegraph. Mood-altering drugs - Ritalin is an

amphetamine-based stimulant - for kids in school? Many parents

say no, but the trend...
