May I remind everyone that COSTCO is the only Fortune 500 comapny that donates

to the dems.

I believe in compulsory cannibalism. If people were forced to eat what they

killed, there would be no more wars.

What about Sam's Club, owned by the Walmart people? That and Costco are our

only bulk shopping options where we live.

Sam's Club has the same disregard for its employees

and for its patrons that has marked WalMart.

Some years ago when a bill was before the California

Assembly to limit bulk stores (the bill was aimed at

Costco, actually, at the behest of the grocery

industry), the San Diego Union Tribune set out to do

an expose on Costco. What they found showed their

preconceptions to be false: Costco provided only the

highest quality foods (meats, dairy, seafood, etc.)

and the highest quality merchandise. The Union

Tribune ended up praising Costco as a company with

integrity.

But Costco is also a good corporate citizen. Costco

pays its employees well and treats them with respect.

The CEO has angered Wall Street with his outspoken

argument that employees that are valued and treated

with respect will in turn treat patrons with respect.

WalMart and Sam's, on the other hand, may be great at

getting food and water moved rapidly from one location

to another, but they treat their employees like sh*t,

force their costs of doing business off on communities

when they do not pay a living wage or one that would

enable most employees to get adequate (or any) health

insurance. WalMart and Sam's are the major

contributor to our trade imbalance with China (which

owns so much of our debt that it has strategically

weakened our country).

Further, the greedy wife and children of Sam Walton,

the founder, contribute to charities that undermine

public education. Sam Walton may have been a man with

some principles, but those who inherited from him

aren't.

WalMart and Sam's lie and misrepresent (I can provide

countless examples if you like) to get their stores

into communities. When they do enter a community,

they destroy the small businesses that were there.

WalMart (and Sam's) may have garnered good PR from

Katrina, but it doesn't change the fact that they are

helping to destroy America (even if it is us who

permit them too by falling for their cheap--not just

inexpensive, but cheaply made--goods).

Shame on us and shame on them.

Buy from Costco!
