Petition to thank Castro and Cuba for relief offer

I have begun a petition to be sent to Castro and the

people of Cuba to thank them for their offer of over

1500 medical doctors experienced in hurricane relief.

Unfortunately, the decisionmakers of our country did

not think they were necessary and either turned them

down or didn't respond -- I've heard both versions. In

truth, we desperately need medical help.

 

I've written an online petition to thank Castro and

Cuba for the offer. If this goes, I'll do another

thanking Hugo Chavez for his offer of aid, which

includes oil.

 

If our leaders lack the courtesy and training to know

the value of diplomacy, perhaps it just has to be up

to us to speak for regular Americans, especially the

sick people of New Orleans who so badly need this

medical help.

to garner at least 5,000 signatures before sending it

to Cuba.

 

If, as so often happens with petitions, people not

serious about this should go and mess it up, I will,

either remove their remarks or retype it, leaving out

the unwanted remarks.

Fidel Castro, president of Cuba We the

undersigned join to extend our gratitude to Fidel

Castro and the people of Cuba for offering their fine

medical help in our time of emergency due to Hurricane

Katrina.

 

It saddens us to know that so much help was and is

needed and that this large number of well-trained

doctors is not welcomed into our country to share our

relief work. While not all signatories below may agree

on everything President Castro says and does (many are

unaware of anything being said from our neighbor to

the south) we DO all agree that this was a needed act

of generosity, and we apologize for its lack of being

graciously accepted.
