Total Failure

 

In New Orleans today we are witnessing the total failure of the

federal government. In three days, one of the major cities in the

United States has turned into a cesspool of anarchy, violence and

death. The United States government has totally failed the people of

this city and the nation.

 

Although a flood of these proportions was at the top of a list of

probable disasters, nothing was done to avoid it. For three to four

days it was obvious that a huge storm was headed for the GulfCoast.

But the federal government did nothing -- zero -- to prepare for it.

No troops were sent; nor was anyone from the Federal Emergency

Management Agency (which has the hollow ring of a very black joke

today) sent to prepare for what was certainly going to be a colossal

disaster. What has the sprawling Department of Homeland Security done?

How are they securing the homeland? One would think that these

organizations which receive billions of dollars a year to protect

United States citizens would actually know how to do so. From this

performance it has become quite clear the only purpose of these

organizations is to enforce the growing police state -- not to aid the

country's citizens! As for the President, he was languishing at his

estate in Texas, ignoring the building crisis just as he ignored the

warnings prior to 9/11. Isn't it time he is relieved of his duty and

replaced with someone a little more competent and trustworthy?

 

For years, the organizations responsible for maintaining the levee

system that is the city's only protection against such a disaster have

been begging -- begging -- for the funds necessary to prevent it. But

the government, instead, has cut those funds and used them to fight a

meaningless and illegal war, itself a massive failure.

 

As the city descends into anarchy, parents try to comfort their

starving children as bodies float by in the sewage that fills the

entire city, the President can only chastise looters and spin this

utter and complete failure into another " Mission Accomplished. "

 

The news media has also failed -- again. They have become merely

mouthpieces of the federal government and instead of asking the

President, Congressmen and other federal officials to explain this

failure; they are content to pick on local officials who are

completely ill-equipped to handle a disaster of these proportions. As

an illustration of their disgusting behavior, I watched yesterday as

some air head on CNN berated the governor of Louisiana for not putting

refuges on cruise ships. The fact that there were no cruise ships

available and no one to coordinate such a move did not stop this idiot

from boring in on why the governor was not doing this. Why isn't this

woman asking tough questions of federal officials?

 

How many more American cities will be lost before people wake up and

realize our country is run by totally incompetent people, intent only

on lining their own pockets with money and bloating their egos with

the conquest of other nations?

 

I am not proud of being an American today -- and no one else should be

either!
