Jennings on 08 August 2004 at 10:32 pm Regarding the article " Mercury (Thimerosal) in Vaccines FDA report " DATED 08 Aug 2004 http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/youropinions.php?opinionid=4459 (1) INGESTED IS NOT THE SAME AS INJECTED Humans are supposed to have " friendly flora " living in their gut. Mercury -- in the tunafish sandwich that we eat for lunch -- will be dealt with, to a large extent, by those bacteria. On the other hand, mercury which is injected is " free " to " travel " throughout the bloodstream. What system does the FDA think is in place for removing mercury which is disseminated in that way? (2) INSTRUCTIONS: SHAKE WELL What if the nurse (or doctor) does not shake the container? The report says, " the FDA evaluated the amount of mercury an infant might receive in the form of ethylmercury from vaccines under the U.S. recommended childhood immunization schedule... " But the FDA does not address the issue -- reported by some parents, and probably unknown by others -- of the massive overdose which can occur if the multi-dose container is not shaken extremely well before each use. What is the largest quantity of thimerosal-containing vaccine which has been available? How much mercury could any one infant have received, if the bottle were not shaken well? (3) WHAT ABOUT " HOT LOTS " ? The report says, " the FDA evaluated the amount of mercury an infant might receive in the form of ethylmercury from vaccines under the U.S. recommended childhood immunization schedule . . . " But there is no mention of the " hot lots " of vaccines -- which are listed at a website on the internet, if one knows where to look -- which contained excessive amounts of thimerosal. If a child received one (or more) of those, then what? (4) THIMEROSAL IN OTHER PRODUCTS " . . . thimerosal has been used in some immune globulin preparations, anti-venins, skin test antigens, and ophthalmic and nasal products, in addition to certain vaccines. " Thimerosal is also injected into pregnant mothers with a potential Rh factor discrepancy. At some time in the past, it was not given until a second or subsequent pregnancy; and today the infant could be tested while the mother is still pregnant. In some places in the United States, a pregnant woman who is Rh-negative is routinely vaccinated -- with a thimerosal containing substance (brand name in the U.S., RhoGam) -- thus allowing the thimerosal to circulate into the growing fetus. Also, for many years, paint -- ordinary house paint -- contained mercury as a preservative. How many mothers painted the nursery while she was pregnant? AND some spermicides contained mercury. Was it a preservative? No, it was the spermicide. How many mothers unknowingly used a mercury-containing spermicide, perhaps for years, before becoming pregnant ... and then wondering what went wrong, after the baby was born and had neurological problems? (5) HEPATITIS A VACCINE In the United States, the Hepatitis A vaccination still contains thimerosal, and is given within just a few days of birth. Does the FDA think that a newborn has a " functioning " immune system, which can mount an immune reponse and also remove mercury? (5) ACETAMINOPHEN AND VACCINATIONS In a recent newspaper article promoting vaccinations, a young child receives shots for hepatitis B, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, Haemophilus influenzae type b and pneumococcus -- all at one visit. The doctor gives the shots. Then, he is quoted as saying: " All done . . . [n]ow Daddy's going to give you your Tylenol and Mama's going to pick you up and love you. " What's wrong with this scenario? A well-respected on-line medical information service, eMedicine says: " Acetaminophen is rapidly absorbed from the stomach and small intestine and metabolized by conjugation in the liver to nontoxic agents, which then are eliminated in the urine . . . . In acute overdose or when maximum daily dose is exceeded over a prolonged period, the normal pathways of metabolism become saturated. " [ See: http://www.emedicine.com/emerg/byname/toxicity-acetaminophen.htm } Isn't there a very great likelihood that such a quantity of vaccines, all at once, would be likely to " saturate the normal pathways of metabolism " in a very young child? At what age does an infant develop an immune system? -- Read the news article that this opinion was posted about: Mercury (Thimerosal) in Vaccines FDA report _________________ JoAnn Guest mrsjo- www.geocities.com/mrsjoguest/Diets AIM Barleygreen " Wisdom of the Past, Food of the Future " http://www.geocities.com/mrsjoguest/Diets.html Start your day with - make it your home page
